A time to be bullish: Many top destinations are investing heavily in their golf product

The common catch-phrase you hear over and over is that golf is struggling. I totally disagree. I recently called the top 12 golf destinations in America and everyone is investing -- or re-investing -- into golf.

As I discussed with Damon Hack on Morning Drive, this is a very exciting time to be an avid amateur golfer. It's a buyer's market; prices are coming down.

Damon and I talked about some exciting developments, including upgrades to Pebble Beach Golf Links, a new 11-hole, par-3 course by Tom Doak in the works at Bandon Dunes, and more lodging being added at the Inn on Woodlake, part of the American Club in Kohler, Wis. Up in Michigan, Forest Dunes is talking about adding a short course, and perhaps even another championship course, to be designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. Lastly, Arcadia Bluffs is in the process of adding a new course, and will add more lodging.
