About
Located in Avon Lake, Sweetbriar Golf Club boasts two scenic 18-hole courses that are routed through natural wetlands and forests. The front nine of the Legacy Course was built in 2002 and the back nine was added in 2007. The nines have different landscapes, creating a diverse set of holes that will have you using all the clubs in your bag. The front nine has a links design with winding fairways and large greens while the back nine was carved from forests. With natural wetland areas and a number of interesting risk-reward par 5s, the back of the golf course has more of an east coast feel. The other 18-hole course at Sweetbriar was built in the 60s. It is shorter than the Legacy but is still challenging, which makes it great for beginners.

Really well-maintained
This golf course should be ranked as top 5 in Cleveland.
Not as good as expected
I really expected this course to be great based on other reviews I read. Although the greens were in prestine condition, the fairways and rough could use a little attention. Would play again.

the course is not long, but is a challenge due to the large trees that line most fairways and the occasional water hazard.
Great course
Played legacy course. Well maintained and very scenic. Back nine is a bit more open than the front nine and favors the power hitter. The front nine requires greater accuracy. Taken together, both nines make for an interesting round.
Very good course for the money
The course was very well maintained and the staff was very friendly. The course plays difficult for the average golfer but is a very fun and unique course to play. You will see a variety of holes. I have golfed at this course three times now and will continue to golf at this course.
The course had nice greens, wish the grass tees were open.

Private Like Public Course
One of the best conditioned public courses in NE Ohio. Multiple tees set for every level of skill. A must play. Country club fairways & greens. A fantastic club house. Pricey green fees but, deals are offered.
Great atmosphere
This course is always is amazing condition. We play it at least twice a week. Beautiful layout, and amazing greens.

Very challaning golf course
Good golf course some very challening holes has alot of trees which I hit just about all of them with a lot of water as I lost a few balls had a good time
Great course and great value
The weather was great, and the course was in great condition. The fairways and greens were soft, and the rough was well kept, and not too difficult to play out of. I have never had a bad experience on this course and can't wait to play it again.

Good course for the money.
This has always been a well kept course and is always fun to play. Over the years however, it seems that they aren't putting as much effort into keeping it as pristine as it once was. It is still better than most courses in the area, but I fear that they may let things slide. I really hope that they care for the course and keep it beautiful!
Legacy is in good shape....I wish people would fix their own ball marks. If you're a good enough golfer to make a ball mark - fix it!
Nice course....nice clubhouse and grill. Looks like many new people working in the grill - some friendly, some not so much. . Not overly long but challenging course and good greens (other than players need to fix their own ball marks).

Great course. Challenging from the tips. Worth every penny at full price. Great conditions for so early in the year. Will definitely play here again.

Expected this course to have some flaws but more than I expected. Still early in the season though.
The greens will get better.
Played Legacy on Tuesday, April 9th. The fairways and the rough were in very nice shape.
But the greens were still a bit rough after being aerated last year. I play this course frequently because I live near it, and it's in great shape most of the time. Again, putts didn't roll true, but once the greens are back to normal, I know they will.
