Fun course for a beginner
I took my 16 year old newbie son to this course. The layout was simple but good for him, since he’s a high handicap. The greens and fairways were in good shape but the rough was kind of “rough”. I would play there again.
Municipal Course
Fairways somewhat narrow. Rough very lush at this time and often difficult to find balls. Not very pretty course ( flat, few old trees). Greens fair, and fairly quick. Fairways aren’t always mowed to green, so some approach shots will bounce to green, but others will hang up in rough. This lack of consistency makes approach shots difficult to gauge. Probably fairly priced, but quality courses available nearby for modest increase in prices.
Good experience provided by the CRC
relatively wide open with some trees, some taller unplayable areas, pretty flat, thick rough and varying width of fairways, quick, low cut greens in good condition with no edges on the cups. Made for an enjoyable round, albeit a bit more challenging than anticipated (but in a good way).
A Cincinnati classic
played the regulation course with a buddy and two random guys. Fun morning! It's not the most challenging course, but it's a Cincinnati classic. Always love seeing the planes fly in and take off at Lunken. Can't wait for "covid" to be over so they're not jerks about the mask and cup rules. Oh well.
Good off-season round
Very flat course on a non descript site. I enjoyed the modern undulating greens. However based on the layout and location, I would only play this as an off-season course and not subject myself to any long rounds.
No staff on duty
When we showed up for our 11:50!tee time there was no staff on site. Doors were locked with a sign saying Closed with no explanation. Luckily the lady who ran the food and beverage was there and helped us. When we were able to tee off another group coming up from 18!demanded to ola in front of us stating they were allowed. Again no one there to actually control who was doing what.
If you have hours to burn - this is the course for you
Pace of play at Reeves has always been slow. I hadn’t played here in years and now I remember why I hadn’t. I played the first hole and then looked at the next few holes and it was backed up like O’Hare on a snowy day. Turned around and left.
Practice.
Great course to practice (esp. on a weekday). I would guess it’s filled to the gills on weekends and evenings. It’s super flat, no hazards except a few areas of knee-high grass that swallow a ball if you get too close. Greens are great for a muny, tee boxes are decent, fairways are pretty good, everything is pretty hard. Pull your driver and rip it every hole. Not a single memorable hole, but that’s not what you’d come to Reeves for, right?
