Knoll Run Golf Course

About
Knoll Run Golf Course is a challenging 18-hole layout in Lowellville. Don't let the seemingly mild yardage fool you. This course may only be 6,400 yards but there are plenty of challenges in store. Water comes into play on several holes and there are a number of tricky doglegs throughout. One prime example is the par-4 14th, which doglegs in a nearly 90-degree angle to the left. Stands of trees line the fairways as well, but perhaps the biggest challenges on the course are presented by the greens. The subtly contoured surfaces are made even tougher with the addition of strategically placed bunkers. Knoll Run Golf Course's back nine is slightly longer and more difficult. It's a fair but fun test that's not overly demanding and players of any skill level can appreciate the affordability of this public golf course.

Fun course, excellent condition, great bar and restaurant!!
Fun course to play, always in excellent condition, nice bar with
great food, all at reasonable price. Ginny and Bill work hard to make sure you have an enjoyable day. Have been bringing group from Pgh for years, all my guys love to come here and enjoy all above!!!
Worth the Dollar!
The course is relatively flat.
There are a few water/lake holes.
Nice layout.
Well maintained.
Quality Carts.
Friendly staff.
A little overrated
We drove 1.5 hours based on the reviews. There were a lot of weeds on the fairways and some brown spots - early in the season. We will not return.

Played the course form the third time in the last 2 years. Have always enjoyed it as it is quite playable with generous fairways. The senior tees are a little shorter than normal but some of the water in front of the greens still makes the approach shot a challenge.
It's become one of my favorite places to play in the area.
Great Condition
The course is always in great shape, even this early in the season. Staff friendly as usual.
Interesting layout
Nice course. Lots of different looking holes you have too manage the course. My only complaint is they book tee times too tight you have too wait on at least 14 of 18 holes so if you book you will be waiting on almost every hole
Top course in area
I've played here three times this year. Course s in excellent shape plenty of drainage. Greens were in awesome shape for this time of year. The greens are tough and challenging but in great shape. They are constantly working on the course adding drainage on every hole. After a heavy rain it was cart path only but really not as wet as we thought. Service is great and people there are very pleasant and I really enjoy their company. Great workers great starters and a great course. I would highly recommend this course to anyone.
Very nice course, even nicer people
We play here several times a year and have never had a negative thought about the place. great people, great golf course
Friendly staff one of the best courses around my area Thank Tou
Just glad to get out.
Considering when and where this took place, late February in NE Ohio, it was just a blessing to get out and play. The course was firmer than we expected, but still no roll on your drive which is to be expected. They had the tees moved up to compensate. The biggest surprise was the greens. They were beautiful! Firm, smooth, and actually kind of fast!
The day before we played at a local "upscale" daily fee course whose greens were absolutely horrible! I don't know how late last year they aerated, but their greens haven't even begun to heal. At Knoll Run the greens were in the best shape you could hope for at this time of year.
There is one thing. The course profile says built in 2006 and that's not quite right. The course was in existence for many years before that and known as Countryside. The course came under new ownership in 2006 and they sunk a lot of money into it, redesigning some holes, building ponds, installing a fairway watering system, and improving the overall condition of the course. It's now a delight to play, and is one of the more popular courses in the area. I just didn't want people to think they were going to encounter a totally "modern" design. A lot of this course is definitely "old school", but still challenging.
Also, the restaurant is a couple of notches up on most golf course eateries around here. A lot of people come here to eat who have absolutely no interest in golf.
November Golf Knoll Run
The golf course was in fantastic condition. The greens were perfect, some of the best all season. The staff did a great job taking care of the leaves as they weren't an issue.
Great course for every level golfer
The course was in great shape for a day in October, fairways in great shape and greens were rolling nice and fast.
Outstanding Course Must play
Drove 1hr 30mins to play and will return have a great time.
Nice Course, Extremely Slow Play
Overall, the course was in pretty good shape. I liked the layout. Greens were in good condition, a little on the slow side but rolled true. If you are a good-intermediate player, strongly encourage playing the blue tees as the course from the white is pretty short. Beware--Pace of play was sloooow. I would probably go back, but probably not during peak times.
Front Nine:
- Pretty wide open. Water doesn't really come into play if you hit quality shots. Par 5s are reachable, but need to play for position off the tee as you can get blocked out by trees.
Back Nine:
- Much tighter, trouble off most of the tees. A lot of doglegs which require position off the tee, some even on second shots. Par 5s are reachable, but again require a good tee shot.
Clubhouse:
- Good food choices, good prices. Beer was pretty cheap. Quick to grab a snack at the turn, good time at the end of the round.
Cons:
- When we were getting ready to tee off, there were 4 groups waiting to make the turn. Although we finished the front 9 in just over 2 hours, I would say that a good amount of that was just waiting on the tees. Was hard to get into a rhythm when you were waiting on 2 groups every tee. The back 9 opened up a little, but it was still pretty slow. Would suggest going with a 4-some, because if you are going with 2, you won't be able to play thru as there is no where to go.
Good shape
Only complaint was an outing lasted too long and we went off after so we waited alot.
Ego builder
Perhaps one of the more easy layouts I've ever played but the condition of the course and speed of greens made it a very nice experience. First time playing the course and the quality score card (book) made it enjoyable since there was a minimum of frustration from unfamiliarity (hitting good shots with wrong club or location). Perfect blend of quality and quantity.
great course
This was my 2nd time at Knoll Run and both times had a great experience. Well maintained and a friendly staff
