Bedford Trails Golf Course

About
Bedford Trails Golf Course is situated just east of Youngstown in Coitsville. The course is one of northeastern Ohio's hidden gems. The modest 6,340-yard layout is seemingly easy but don't underestimate the punch that this course packs. What it may lack in length, the course certainly makes up for with other challenges. You accuracy will be tested with the tight fairways lined with mature trees. Even seasoned players will want to have extra balls handy. Though they are relatively flat, the small size of the greens is what will be the tricky part. Pin placement is the key. Bedford Trails Golf Course isn't exceedingly difficult, but you'll want to strategize each hole carefully. It's a challenging but fun round with affordable green fees that any skill level can appreciate.

BEDFORD TRAILS
We play Here frequently. Unusually really enjoy the course but due to weather conditions. Currently, the course is almost unplayable. It is so hard and so dry that you have little or no control over your ball. This is no fault of the course or the course owners. It's just the weather conditions in the local area.
Public safety notice
Ask owner Andrew Grichow he has security tape of his employee intentionally raming into a private persons vehicle with a Bedford trail golf cart. Andrew has kept the employee working for him " he is his friend"

Owner Andrew Grichow has security tape of his employee intentionally raming into a private persons vehicle with a Bedford trail golf cart and still has that person working there, Owner Andrew Grichow response " he is a friend". Ask Andrew about it.
Even if I got to play for free, i’d stay home
The greens are so tiny and they are horribly maintained so are the fairways. pace of play was very slow. The cart path is non existent and the course layout is like a corn maze, never knew where I was going. Ended up leaving after 9 holes when I paid for 18. Do not play here
Course condition and booking tee times
Let’s start with they had golf outing in the morning and one at 130 . I. Booked 2:07 tee time. Why would they do that????? The course conditions are some of the worst I’ve ever seen. Fairways were just all pitted up you couldn’t get a good lie on them. That’s if you could tell the fairways from the rough. The greens pure joke! You can get a smooth roll on them. Just one of the worst courses I’ve ever played on. Don’t waste your money or time
Nice people but ugly course
I returned to Bedford because someone wrote a review saying it had improved immensely. Sorry, not the case at all. thread bare tee boxes and fairways, hard to find a good lie. Greens are good but that's it. Wish I could say nice things about it but I can't.
Fair conditions and layout
Conditions are rough on almost every hole. Either the tee box is dirt and lumpy or the fairways are brown or very wet. And most greens have dead areas and extremely wet from over watering. It hasn't rained in 4 days so this water and soggy ground is all caused by the course.
Many of the fairways are ridiculous with over hanging branches on already tight fairways making it stupid. Average golfers have enough challenge on tight par 4s without added branches just because of poor maintenance.
The food is good but very over priced. $6 for a basic breakfast sandwich? Come on.
The only good thing I can say is the lady at the counter was extremely nice.
Just Average
If you are looking for a quick play, this is probably not your place. Even during the week it gets backed up.
Fairways are decent, but not well manicured. Greens are long and soft. Tee boxes are atrocious.
Likely 5-10 dollars more than its worth.
The course was a little soggy due to heavy rain the day before but it was in very good condition. Back 9 fairways were a little tighter but the course was forgiving. My friend and I enjoyed it very much.
Decent Value Course/Great Staff and Breakfast
I wish I could do a 3.5!
My wife and I played here on a Saturday morning and had breakfast afterward in the connected restaurant.
Staff was really great!
Pace of play was good!
But the course conditions need some TLC! Tee boxes looked like war zones, and a few of the green were a little rough as well.
I will likely go back because the cost was fairly low and felt pretty comfortable there.
Overall was a pleasant experience but the course needs some love!
Friendly staff
Staff was very friendly. Course has many doglegs and was pretty fun to play.
Tee Boxes
Really like the course, but wish tee box markers where easier to see. Especially when the tee boxes aren’t freshly mowed., had my wife with me and we had to search on some of the holes for her tee box. Markers need to be higher and brighter color.
Bedford Trails golf course
It is a nice average course. It was in good condition for this time of year. The staff was friendly and helpful. The golf carts were clean and comfortable.
Very nice and well laid out track
Played very early in the season and conditions were extremely wet. However the course was very enjoyable and the layout was very easy to follow with their full length cart paths. There's nothing worse than a course where you can't tell which direction to go for the next hole. The greens were in great shape with only a couple showing some issues. Lots of tight fairways, but still features several very nice holes. Will happily play again.
STREAK SAVERS!
A friend and I have a streak of consecutive months played. That streak was sitting at 94 going into January of 2025 and was in serious jeopardy due to the cold and snow of Eastern OH/Western PA. We got down to the last day and HAD to play or the streak was finished. NO ONE would let us on anywhere we called......except Bedford Trails.
Andrew Grischow and his staff went out of their way to make sure we got our round in. He insisted we come out....which we did. The only caviat was to NOT set foot on any of the greens (the obvious damages that could occur made that necessary). No problem. I suggested that we play the course backwards.....teeing off in front of the 18th green and playing to the tee box, and continuing to the 1st hole tee box. Andrew thought that was a great idea and OK'd the venture. When we got to the course, they refused to take our money....they just wanted us to keep our streak alive and were glad that they could accomodate us.
It was as wet, snow covered and sloppy as you could expect....and it was cold....and raining....and breezy (which is why I gave the course conditios 1 star). There was so much water on certain normally dry areas that it appeared there were running streams and ponds. IT WAS FANTASTIC!
I cannot possibly thank them enough for their generosity and hospitality. We have played Bedford Trails 75-80 times over the last decade in all kinds of weather....and have always had a fantastic time. The staff is amazing....the ownership is amazing...the restaurant is OUTSTANDING....and the course is a great track and fun to play (forward OR backward). If you are in the area...or even if you aren't....Bedford Trails is WELL WORTH the trip.
Thank you, Andrew! To you and the staff!
