Fun Course
Candywood is a course that I am very familiar with, having grown up nearby. To be honest, it has seen better days, which is a shame. The family that owns it and all their employees are so nice, which makes it a pleasure to come to the course. Unfortunately, in the last couple seasons, there has been a noticeable decline in the condition of the course. The worst thing is that they once again raised their rates this season, which is hard to justify when the return for more of your dollars is just not there. If it hasn't rained recently, expect a lot of lies on hard pan, or worse. If it has rained, better play lift, clean, and place because you'll run into a lot of muddy areas. I don't know the reasons behind the noticeable decline in quality here, but I hope it turns around. The course itself is a fun test. Not too difficult, but if you're not hitting the ball well, expect a lot of big numbers to pop up on the scorecard. Some local knowledge will help on this course, as well as leaving the driver in the bag on some of the tighter drives. Don't worry, there's a few wide open tee shots that you can bomb away at.
Player friendly
Candywood's greens are perfect for the amateur golfer. Flat for the
most part, and about medium speed.
Greens were great.
For a cold day the course still was rather busy. The greens were fantastically smooth. Rough was kept up on so that you could find your ball on wayward shots.
This course had great greens
The course was great, it had some very challenging holes. I liked how it forced you to use to mid range irons a lot because of all the water bunkers that were set up just before most greens.
