Update to prior review
I failed to mention the men’s bathroom in the “clubhouse” was filthy. Trash can was running over into the floor. No paper towels or hand dryer. No soap. Very sad. I like the course and it used to be well maintained. I am surprised with the level of play it’s getting, there isn’t any visible sign of upkeep, investment, etc.
Not worth the $40 afternoon discount rate.
Poor condition and poor amenities
Booked tee time and prepaid online. Arrived on time and there were no carts. Zero food amenities or snack bar. Clubhouse and old restaurant look abandoned. Purchased a Coke and snack, but there was a $4.50 up charge to pay with a credit card.
No issues with the long grass and mud because of all the rain we’ve had, but there was no on-course control of carts and people were driving all over the course leaving deep muddy ruts. No cart paths only or 90 degree rules. Cart paths were broken and collapsed in several areas. Water drainage was poor on front 9 leaving standing water and mud in many places.
Used to be a pretty decent track but not now. Don’t pay full price to play. If you find a hot deal on the tee time, maybe it’s ok at $25 fee.
Many but not of the greens were infested with weeds. Others looked fine.
Worst course in Oklahoma contender
I don’t remember a time this course was worth more than $20. Terrible city maintenance. They have worked on the greens recently. Only positive thing I have to say about this course. From the area.
Decent
Decent for the price, pretty empty when I played so pace of play was good. I enjoyed the layout but the ground is almost rock solid.
Tons better than last year
Used to have Frankenstein greens, no drinking water on course, carts you couldn’t depend on, and staff that weren’t friendly.
Now they have new carts, consistent greens, water jugs on course, and a couple guys who love what they do.
Still needs some work, but they have definitely made a concerted effort.
Needs work.
I typically don’t write reviews. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt of having a bad day. First off it rained earlier in the day compared to my teatime at 2 o’clock. Around 1 o’clock I tried to contact the course called over and over and over again to see if they were open or what the course conditions were like. Finally gotten in contact with someone they answer the phone and tell me they’ll give me a 320 teatime. And made it sound like the course will be completely open at three. I get there and I am told that the back nine is only open. It’s cartpath only. The only person working in the building is a young lady who I presume was under the age of 18. She could not sell alcohol. And once out on the course, other players who I assumed were local, or members. We’re driving all over the course. In the front nine didn’t appear to be underwater or have any major issues. Overall, the course could serve from better, customer relations and communication training. The course looked in very good shape compared to other reviews. I would like to go back later this year and see if it’s better.
Great course, Moderate skill level
Great local course to Choctaw, they’ve done a lot of work to bring back the life to the greens. Now that the greens are taken care of, the course is fantastic. We play here often and I highly recommend it to everyone. It is not a very difficult course so I’d say it’s great for new to average golfers. The driving range is okay for what it is, I wish it had a machine for the balls, instead you have to go to the club house to get a bucket, which isn’t the worse thing.
Again, love this course and recommend it to everyone I know.
Rain rain
Because of rainstorms the front nine was closed and back was carts only. We did two rounds on the back and enjoyed it. Would like to go back and check out the front.
Awful
The golf carts were terrible, and when I went inside to ask about getting a new one, the guy in the golf shop told me they're all like that and I'd have to deal with it. The course is in bad shape.
Choctaw creek
Waste of money. Ran by kids not old enough to sell beer. Carts new and falling apart already. Greens are dormant but show bald spots. City owned and not given attention my opinion. Has potential but needs invested into to improve. Won’t be back
clubhouse
Oddly, we couldn't buy beer in the clubhouse because the kid at the counter was too young to sell it and the person in charge wasn't available. Club house personnel were not the friendliest overall.
