Choctaw Creek Golf Course

The course itself was in decent shape, considering it is early in the season. The greens rolled very nice and there were no bare spots on the greens. The gentleman working the counter was friendly. They had gas-powered carts, and honestly they were the nicest gas-powered carts I’ve ever used.

One minor annoyance I had was that I got there about 45 minutes before my tee time and he told me that they were out of carts. I had to wait on them to come in from golfers who had started earlier. But we had a cart by the time of our tee time.

The course is pretty decent. My only issue is that a few places on the front nine you have two holes going in opposite directions with only a small line of trees separating the two fairways. So you just have to be cautious there. I realize that is more about the size of the property than anything but that is only a few spots on the front side.

Pace of play was decent. We had a foursome in front of our twosome and only had to wait a few minutes a couple of times and there was no one pressing us from behind. We played in about 3 hours 40 minutes which is not bad for a Sunday afternoon.

This course is really coming along. Choctaw Creek has been putting in work to really clean the place up and take care of the grounds. 3 years ago, I would have advised not to waste your time but this place is soo much better now. Keep making Choctaw Creek better and better please.

I've played here a few times through the years. The last couple have been horrible. They wouldn't honor my GOLFNOW booking price and charged their regular fee. Even AFTER i showed them my reservation and the price that I confirmed. Went round and round with the shop attendant, and he did NOTHING except tell me that the GOLFNOW price is different. IF you aren't going to honor the price, don't put it on the app. Ridiculous. And a $4.50 credit card fee? That's price gouging and unfair.

The course has so many bare spots and areas where there has been lots of run off for prolonged periods of time. The greens were full of divots, dead spots, and weeds. Several fairways had ground under repair that was poorly done the sod they laid down was dead. Lots of gopher holes, course was not in good shape. Even for winter golf the course was in atrocious shape. The driving range was just dirt, no grass to hit off of. Turf mats would’ve been better. The course has potential to be better but it will take some serious work.

Whoever is in charge of the landscaping is doing a good job of getting the greens back in shape.

The grass is very thin and you are hitting off sand most of the time. Greens were rough as well.

I failed to mention the men’s bathroom in the “clubhouse” was filthy. Trash can was running over into the floor. No paper towels or hand dryer. No soap. Very sad. I like the course and it used to be well maintained. I am surprised with the level of play it’s getting, there isn’t any visible sign of upkeep, investment, etc.

Not worth the $40 afternoon discount rate.

Booked tee time and prepaid online. Arrived on time and there were no carts. Zero food amenities or snack bar. Clubhouse and old restaurant look abandoned. Purchased a Coke and snack, but there was a $4.50 up charge to pay with a credit card.

No issues with the long grass and mud because of all the rain we’ve had, but there was no on-course control of carts and people were driving all over the course leaving deep muddy ruts. No cart paths only or 90 degree rules. Cart paths were broken and collapsed in several areas. Water drainage was poor on front 9 leaving standing water and mud in many places.

Used to be a pretty decent track but not now. Don’t pay full price to play. If you find a hot deal on the tee time, maybe it’s ok at $25 fee.

Many but not of the greens were infested with weeds. Others looked fine.

I don’t remember a time this course was worth more than $20. Terrible city maintenance. They have worked on the greens recently. Only positive thing I have to say about this course. From the area.

Decent for the price, pretty empty when I played so pace of play was good. I enjoyed the layout but the ground is almost rock solid.

Used to have Frankenstein greens, no drinking water on course, carts you couldn’t depend on, and staff that weren’t friendly.

Now they have new carts, consistent greens, water jugs on course, and a couple guys who love what they do.

Still needs some work, but they have definitely made a concerted effort.
