Rough was too tall
Course was great if you stay in the fairway, rough was well kept but too tall, spent a lot of time looking for balls that should have been visible.
Ruff penalty’s are High
I know you’re not supposed to be in the ruff but if you do you have to be directly over the ball to see it. In my opinion this slows down play and causes patrons to lose a lot of balls. You will find 5 or so balls looking for your own.
Buffalo Rock is welcoming.
I really enjoyed my round at Buffalo Rock from start to finish. This is a challenging course but fair.
The rough was very thick today and had us looking for some shots that were just off of the fairway. I appreciate the work the ground screws have done. I played here earlier in the year and their work is apparent.
I brought a friend who had not played the course and he was impressed as well as a bit humbled by the rough as well!
I appreciate the sincere hospitality I have always experienced here. It is one of the reasons I drive an extra hour to play here.
Thanks for the great round! Hope to be back soon.
Great value, great course
Hit them straight or you will not find your ball. Not a very forgiving course but always worth it.
Beautiful
Always nice to find a course away from the city, at a decent price! The fairways could use work but the greens and most tee boxes were great!
Overpriced
Course is in very poor condition. Fairways and tee boxes were not mowed. Greens were in subpar condition. Trees are overgrown and in desperate need of trimming or removal. Many dead (dirt) areas in the fairways and around many greens. Course is extremely penal due to conditions. Old school Perry Maxwell design. Tiny greens, very demanding off the tee, and difficult short par 4's. Back in the day this was probably quite a golf course, not any more. Overpriced green fees but the staff is friendly. Not worth the price.
Great layout, a little rough around the edges..
Greens were in good shape - I forgot how small many of the greens were. Challenging layout - had some rough spots in the main areas of play, but all - in, good course.
Gem in the middle of nowhere
This is a very nice course "in the middle of nowhere" (no offense to the folks who live around there!) I drove over from Broken Arrow because I couldn't get on any other course locally. It is a very nice course and good, challenging layout. The greens are in great shape. However, I would probably not drive that far again unless I could get the rate for under $30. I paid $45 this time.
Great experience, wish it was closer to me!
Nice layout, course was in very good condition. All of the staff I encountered were extremely friendly and helpful! Will definitely be back. Only concern, I've never encountered winter tees before. It would be nice if you would mow down the temporary tees.
Good value for the money
I wasn't really expecting much. So that's good. Golf cart wasn't cleaned. No drive range which for me is the biggest downside. Some tees were down hill and not trimmed at all. Some greens had way too many divots, some other were better taken care of. No yardage marks, so makes it hard for first time players that don't know the distances nor carry a distance ranger. I live in Tulsa, so it's a bit far, but again. I payed $10 bucks (cart included) so can't really complain
Hidden Gem
This course is always in above average shape. The greens were rolling pretty pure. Some of the fairways had dead spots but nothing crazy. The rough was actually rough, which is rare for Oklahoma courses. Actually lost a ball due to the rough just being too thick to find it. Irritating, but then again I’m the one who hit it in there so I can’t complain too much.
Pace of play typically isn’t an issue, but there was some sort of tournament or something and we caught the tail end of it. Usually this place is pretty empty and a smooth pace, so that was definitely and anomaly and not the status quo. If you’re within an hour of this place check it out. Friendlier faces than what you’ll find at any of the city’s muni courses, and it’s usually in way better shape too.
Didn't Regret It
- Course was in fair condition. Greens good, fairways okay, tee boxes rough.
- Big clubhouse but not any food or alcohol that I saw
- Pace was good. Staff was friendly. Other golfers were nice
- Pretty hard course and thoughtful layout
- Worth it if you're in the area
Fun, well-kept, and nice elevation changes
Played here on a Tuesday afternoon and there was a fair amount of people but not too busy. The layout features typical Perry Maxwell touches like elevated greens and tee boxes, and some really weird rolls in the greens. I was not expecting the course to be as hilly as it was from Google Earth. It was a welcome surprise.
The course is almost one-hundred years old. It shows wear on many holes, but there is a fun afternoon of golf here, and worth the drive from Tulsa.
