A step in the right direction
This course is suffered through several different changes in ownership, with many previous owners neglecting the course. The new owners have done a good job with correcting the missteps that prior owners had taken which brought the course down a notch. I play this course frequently and enjoy the course itself, but there is a serious issue with the pace of play. Nearly every time I have played the course, there is a group playing slow and holding up everyone behind them. The course does not have starters or Marshalls, but needs them desparately to help speed up the pace of play.
Some of the earlier employees were not so friendly and were telling us we had to be off the course at a certain time, because they didn't want to stay late, but only after we had already paid for our round.
I also find it dishonest that the course charges more for walk-ins than they do for those who book a tee time. It's easy enough to book a tee time from the parking lot but it's a hassle that doesn't exist at any other golf course I've played.
First time playing
First time playing, while there was a charity event happening the pro shop advised me to use the green that was not in use to warm up. There's been plenty of rain in the area this week but tee boxes were solid along with the greens. Very happy it was not cart path only. Quite a long course with very challenging greens, but the people I was paired up with advised me well along with the staff. Great experience, good craft beers, would suggest this course to anyone looking for a good golf experience.
great course scenic
Played Sunset today and it was in perfect condition. It had rained earlier and had been raining a lot in the past week, with some course too wet to play enjoyably. But not Sunset. The fairways were in great condition and running pretty good. The greens were in perfect shape and as usual very fast. And thankfully the weather cooperated. And the PGA Professional who waited on me (sorry bad on remembering names) was fantastic and very friendly. Overall, playing Sunset today was an extremely satisfying experience and I will definitely be back when possible.
Tougher than you think but a real golf enjoyment
Greens Greens Greens are a challenge but a whole lot of fun y’all have a good time here
Father/Son
Great time playing 18 holes with my son and another Father son , nothing better than that special time together, great golf and a few beers and of course a Coney.
Great outing, except for the pace of play
First time playing this course. I was very impressed by the conditions of the fairways and greens. Everything was in great condition, mowed and groomed immaculately. Lots of players out today as the weather was great. I don't mind playing a busy course as long as everyone keeps the game moving but today we got stuck behind a foursome of older guys who actually drove back one time while we were waiting to hit up to the green and told us there was three foursomes ahead of them playing a tournament so nobody was going anywhere fast. Well, it turned out that they were the problem as there was eventually nobody ahead of them because they were so slow. Instead of playing ready golf, they were watching each other's every shot and the putting they did was ridiculous. It took them 15 minutes on average to clear a green. I love this course but wouldn't come back to play here again if I got stuck behind a bunch like these guys. They ruined the day for several players behind us. It took almost 5 hours to complete 18 holes. Ridiculous.
Too long for me....
Played from the green tees, almost 6200 yards. Too long for me. Should have played the golds (5525). But it was a challenge. Took 4 penalty strokes for lost balls trying to overhit. My bad. Overall not a bad round. 96 counting the 4 PS, and from the long tees.
Great course. Long afternoon.
I have played here several times and always enjoy it. Friendly staff. Great website for making tee times. Interesting course. However on certain days they need a marshal on the course to speed up play. One foursome ahead of us was ridiculous. The group directly ahead jumped a hole to finish. Two other players behind us left and walked back to the clubhouse. Other than that, it's a great place to play.
Back after a long absence.
You have to hit the ball where you need to, and avoid trouble. Including the famous RAVINE!
