Best of 2018: New York

The top courses of the year based on our community of golf course reviews
If you miss the fairway bunkers, the 18th hole on the Black Course at Bethpage State Park is actually quite forgiving compared to the rest of the course.

The yearly Golf Advisor state best-of lists are compiled by analyzing the ratings and reviews submitted by members of our community throughout the year. We use our Golf Advisor Index logic that weights newer reviews and combine it with a course's weighted subcategory averages. Reviews from trusted and active reviewers are weighted heavier than inactive members.

Courses must offer public access and have received at least one review in 2018 to be eligible for this year's list.

Some U.S. cities have frighteningly few public-access courses for its residents. If you like variety, you may not want to live in these metros.
