Apollo Elks Country Club

About
Apollo Elks Country Club, situated just northeast of Pittsburgh, is considered one of the area's must-play golf courses. It has appeal for a wide range of skill levels with a layout that is challenging enough for seasoned golfers but also not too difficult for beginners to approach. There is an interesting mix of holes ranging from reachable par 5s to short, tough par 3s and each hole has a distinct character. The greens are fast and the gently rolling terrain provides some subtle breaks that can be tricky. Bunkering is sparsely but strategically placed along the fairways and greensides. There are also a few water hazards that come into play at Apollo Elks Country Club. The round has plenty to hold your attention but don't forget to stop and admire the beautiful western Pennsylvania scenery.

Bad shape
All the fairways are not only brown and green but it is literally just hard compacted dirt most of the fairways the greens are the only good green grass there is but the like to put the holes on the middle or edge of a slope on the green so you have no chance to put it close to the hole with out just sinking it
Don’t be tricked by Country Club
Got there one hour early to use the range which their website talks up. I asked for a bucket and the young man in the pro shop said no one collected the balls from last night so it’s not open. The practice green and chipping area was open but you have to cross a swampy trench to get to it. Decent golf carts but the golf cart paths are horrific. Half the course didn’t even have grass in the fairways or around the greens. I hit a great drive on hole 1 middle of fairway and it felt like hitting off the moon (assuming that would be rocks and craters). Luckily Golf Now had a hot deal and I got 10 bucks off so I played it under 30.00 bucks. There regular rates are 50.00 and that would have been very unfortunate. The other two golfers that we got paired up with were very nice people which made the round more enjoyable and the other golfers we came across on the course were also nice. The layout is very interesting and I personally didn’t think that part of the course was bad if they would just maintain the course and actually have grass to hit off it could be nice. The most surprising thing about the whole course was the sand bunkers were in decent shape. I don’t see myself going back to this course and don’t let their website persuade you differently.
NEEDS RENOVATION
Road coming in was pot hole ridden but was being looked at for pavement. The cart paths were in the same shape and I might have lost a filling. The course was in the same shape along with gnats all over the place because of the moisture from the previous flooded out holes. This was not a good experience. If the course was maintained it could be but unfortunately it wasn't the case.
Apollo elks country club.
First time at Apollo Elks country club and the course is pretty cool. The conditions were not the greatest, but I think it has to do with the weather and time of year. The greens were perfect, the course was challenging, definitely somewhere you should play and check out. The bar and gazebo is nice, there is live music, happy members and staff. Go check it out. Not a bad place to golf a round!
Worst course
The bugs are no match for you or bug spray covered on u they will attack you non stop.
The course looks like no one cares ,patchy, and crappy all the way thru.
They will give u crap all day about no outside beers. We had no beers
It was truely an awful experience
Wet,wet,wet
Played after weeks of rain & course was pretty saturated. Cart paths need some serious attention.
Always a great time at the Elks
I pass a lot of courses to get to Apollo as Im from Pittsburgh so I really love this course. I regret not writing this sooner. One of my favorite tracks in the area!
18 hole round
Course was very well maintained including fairways and greens. The carpaths are a little rough in certain areas. The greens are very good but a little slow when we were playing in April. The Bunkers are very well maintained and Staff are very friendly. Would recommend.
The Price Is Right( per Bob Barker)
Course was well manicured for early spring. Tees were rough and appeared unkept. Greens were fair
Fall golf
Greens were great. Rest of the Course was not in good condition.
Airiation
A couple holes were closed for airiation. To be expected his time of year.
Back nine closed
Greens on front were plugged, but in great condition
Good 18 hole course
Very nice course. The only problem I had on the date we played was the back 9 was unavailable to play so we had to play the front 9 twice because the back 9 had been ariated. I don't believe they cook food there.
no single players
no single player can book on golf now. if the course would make players who book the same tee time play together they would use less carts.man on phone said whaever. don't care
Better than I expected
If basing it on fairways and cart paths, would have given it a worse rating. But the traps weren't bad and the greens were perfect. I would definitely play here again!
Greens
Some of my favorite greens I’ve played all season.
