Used to be the group destination
I will start this review with the food, and service was amazing... 3 years ago. I’ve been coming to this golf course with a large group for many years, and unfortunately, 2025 was our last.
What used to be a fun, welcoming spot with great food and good service has now become the opposite. The owner, Shawn, recently treated our group as if we were a bunch of unruly kids, scolding us like we were drunken 21-year-olds, which couldn’t be further from the truth. His comment that “you may be happier at a place with less structure” was especially ironic, considering his establishment has been slipping in both service and quality year after year.
The food, which once was a highlight, has declined dramatically. Your order now takes far too long to come out, and when it finally arrives, it’s sub-par at best. To top it off, we were told reservations are required for dinner—a new rule that has never been communicated in the many years we’ve been loyal customers.
The owner was aparently the "Independent Internet Research firm" on a message on the website that reads "Best of the Best" A recent online survey by an independent internet research firm rated Scottish Heights Golf Club best Play & Stay package in PA.
Maybe back in 2020.
It’s disappointing to see a place we once looked forward to visiting regularly lose its charm and hospitality. Our group has spent countless hours and dollars here, but after this past season’s experience, we have found a new spot for next year.
Kicked out a Disabled Veteran
We were on the first hole when the owner rode up to us and said we were golfing too slow and he was timing us. We skipped two holes so we wouldn’t hold anyone up and he followed us and said we had to return our carts and leave. We had a disabled veteran in our group, which he knew. Terrible owner and course.
Play and Stay!
The play and stay is a fantastic deal. Owner and staff treat like family. Cart paths I'm sure in time will improve. Resteraunt also excellent. Will be booking several times annually. Elevation makes it interesting for sure.
Not worth the time
This is not a course for serious golfers. The staff was borderline rude maybe due to golf now tee time. The course is extremely congested. The driving range hits into number 2 tee box. Multiple greens and tee boxes are in close proximity. You can easily join in other groups conversations. They also allow 5 somes to play which creates slow play. This was not an enjoyable experience at all.
Gem in the Woods
I played here with low expectations. I left after a really good round of golf. The Owner was very kind and took time to show me around. The weather had been very rainy for weeks. The course was wet, but with the exception of 2 holes, fine to play. The course has hills and flats in equal share. This is no easy course for a first timer. Bu I was pleased with the greens and most fairways. ironically they have brand new carts, but the cart paths need some work.
I will return next year. The experience was worth the drive.
Poor Customer Service
The owner says they do not have a contract with Golf Now and would not honor our tee time or provide us any customer service
A great course
We were two couples and did the stay &play the course was in great shape (other than some of the cart paths) we will return and play there again ( it’s a 3 hour trip) well worth the trip. The owners and staff were very nice, food was great
Good Value
Played several rounds and was happy with the fairways, greens, and tee boxes. However, yardage markers were in disrepair, ball washers were missing, garbage cans were full, storm shelter was ready to collapse, hazard markers were in disrepair, water coolers were missing, and cart paths were the worst I've ever seen after golfing for over 20 years. Some areas were so eroded away that they were truly dangerous and unusable. The road into the course was filled with pot holes. Pro shop has been reorganized and was decently stocked. Patio area was very nice. Bar area was okay but they ran out of Jack Daniels. Staff was very friendly and food was first rate. Overall an excellent golf experience, but I would like to see the owners keep up with the maintenance.
