Love this course!
Play here fairly regularly and always have a good time.
course in excellent shape for alot of play hit it in play off the tee
always an enjoyable round great par threes, but hit it in play off the tee
Nice course and play quickly.
Made a tee-time that day, and had no problem getting on. They let me out in front of the thursday league and I was able to play 18 in around 4 hours by myself. The course was nicely manicured and greens were perfect. The course offered some challenging holes and requires soft hands around the greens. I would play and recommend this course to players of all levels.
swamp with holes drilled in it.
TEE BOXES WERE MUD. ALL PAR 5 SEEMED STRAIGHT UP HILL! TOO MANY BLIND SHOTS. IF YOU HIT WIRES YOU GET TO REPLAY SHOT. 'NUFF SAID! WOULD NOT EVEN GIVE IT A STAR THE SOFTWARE MADE ME!
Course in Great Condition
I have played Pheasant Ridge a number of times and overall I think that this is the nicest condition that I have seen the course for quite some time. Great value for the cost to play. Only drawback was there was a group of 6 playing which was holding up play and no rangers in sight to break it up.
Great time
Me and my buddies had a great time..we were late but they accommodated us and got us out there. Staff was great and very friendly. We will be back
Trouble getting groups starting on time
The course was great and it was a great value. However, the starter and pro shop had trouble starting the tee times on time due to an outing. We had a 1:46pm tee time but didn't get out until after 2:10pm because they were still groups from an outing making the turn from 18 to 1. Next time they should wait until the outing concludes before starting new tee times.
Very nice golf course .
Nice layout of course . Fairways spotty in some spots but overall very good. Tees are mostly well maintained, some need markers moved due to wear. Yard markers for 200,150, and 100 are appreciated. Greens are smooth and speed is good for average golfers. Sand traps need drains and more sand I walked in one and barely saw my tracks. Overall I would enjoy playing thia course again it is in my opinion a very good place to play golf.
This course has very challenging greens!
I seem to only get to play this course once a year and it gets better and better. The fairways were a little blemished but the greens were in super shape. The staff was fabulous, very friendly. I am going to have to golf here more often than once a year.
Nice greens; fairways could use some attention.
Greens were well maintained and rolled true; fairways were in nice shape in some areas while certain areas were spotted and perhaps disease has set in. Cart paths are very bumpy and in most cases nonexistent. Some blind shots on the course present a challenge when you aren't familiar with the course and no way to signal to alert the group behind that all is clear.
Nice course
Positives- greens were in great shape, tight challenging front nine, opens up on the back.
Negatives- pace of play was very slow. First time I played there so to be fair I don't know if its always like that. Also some of the fairways could use some attention.
Overall, other than the slow pace I enjoyed the course.
Very nice staff but course needs work
One of the nicest staffs anywhere. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They even helped my buddy charge the battery in his car when it wouldn't start after our round. For the discounted price, the course is ok. The course needs attention. After the wet summer we have had, I was very surprised to see as many bare sports on the fairway as there were. The tee boxes are uneven and too small in some spots. Not extremely long but challenging because of the terrain. The greens were in pretty good shape and the sand was well maintained. Unfortunately I was in it a lot :(
Decent Course but overcrowded
I signed up for 18 holes through golf now as a single and was only able to get 9 in for a couple reasons.
1) They let WAY too many people out on the course at a time. There was a 6some in front of me, and then a line at the next tee of 4 groups waiting to tee off. Unacceptable.
2) Nobody told me leagues start at 4:45 so I get to the turn and there are 4 4somes standing there waiting. A guy tells me they are a league just getting started. I packed it in at this point
Now, this could have been a terrible experience, and I still say it wasn't great, but when I got back to the clubhouse one of the employees asked me how my round was. I told him SLOW and that nobody told me leagues were going out. He said they should have told me and apologized. He ended up giving me a voucher for 18 holes another the time.
All the complaints about the owner/customer service I didn't see. They were very nice and understanding when I had my above issues. But, any course trying to squeeze that many people on is not somewhere I can recommend.
Course has some interesting holes and setup
I went here mid-week and was able to get right out. People who were there were very nice. It's an older course, so some of the holes are on the short side. I didn't tee off with more than a hybrid until the 6th hole, but there are some drivers out there.
The rough and greens were in good shape. Most of the fairways were as well. A couple of the fairways had some burnt out spots, but nothing too bad. The course is hilly and has a number of greens that are much higher or lower than your approach, which is a plus. Tight in some places, but room if you hit some offline shots.
A couple of the par 3s were shorter than the card says, but that happens in a lot of places. Especially if tee boxes shift over the years. Confirm by looking at how far you think it is, or use a range finder. Otherwise distances were true.
Neat place. Would definitely go back. I hadn't been there in a few years but will add back into the rotation.
fairways need work, greens slow
fairways had quite a few bare spots, that were not a result of divots. Greens looked good, but could have been faster.
I play there often
I always enjoy playing there. The back nine is a little unusual with three par 3 and three par 5, but two of the par 5 holes are good birdie opportunities, and the par 3 holes are nice variety. I don't like the par 3 #4 because the two level green is too severe. Most fairways have good landing areas and there aren't many blind shots. There are some bare areas in the fairways, but the greens are in good shape right now.
played for a great price
Booked through Golfnow & golfed 18 for $24.50.....
Course is good condition....
Worth the $ if u get a deal...
Twists and Turns a Shot Makers Paradise
This massive facility is a great course rain or shine. Plan on riding, as the layout is heavily wooded and has significant elevation changes, especially between holes.
Holes 4 through 14 are tree lined, undulating and well bunker-ed. This stretch also has significant elevation changes making it the most difficult and enjoyable part of your round.
Holes 1 through 3 are relatively short by today's standards. This gives your foursome a chance to warm up before the course gets tight and long, regardless of your level of play..
Holes 15 through 17 will test your decision and shot making skills with a reachable par five, sandwiched between two moderately long par threes. These three holes traverse around the course practice facilities, which are excellent and very well used.
No. 18 is ranked surprisingly, as only the ninth most difficult hole on the score card at 401 yards from the TIPS and 369 from the Whites However it is the "Signature Hole of Pheasant Ridge".
The tee shot at #18 is blind, uphill and out of a shoot to a tight landing area that runs down hill to a lake that crosses the full width of fairway. For most players, using ones Driver will put the lake in play. Yet not hitting a good tee shot will again put the lake in play for the second shot !
Anything Left is often lost and or OB from tee to green. On the Right is a high steep ridge overlooking the landing area. It will keep most fades or mild low slices in play, all be it with a nasty hook lie second shot over the daunting lake. After crossing the lake, the hole tightens and continues up hill to a slightly elevated, narrow and bunker-ed green. MAKING four HERE to end your round, is a great score and AGAIN IT"S #9 on the difficulty list. Besting your handicap for the day, will certainly put a smile on anyone's face,
Sitting on top of the ridge in the trees, overlooking the entire hole at # 18 is a large screened in pavilion, which makes for a fabulous outing venue. . Also high on the ridge is the adjacent clubhouse with its huge deck that overlooks the lake.
BRING YOUR "A" GAME and plan on an enjoyably round.
Beautiful Western PA Course
Pheasant Ridge is a perfect example of a scenic Western Pennsylvania golf course. Elevated tee boxes, subtle valleys and ridges provide golfers with mile-long views and, in the autumn when the foliage is peaking, truly awe-inspiring landscapes.
The course has all the elements - sand, rough, creeks, ponds, woods - for a good challenge, despite measuring just below 6600 yards from the tips. The par 5s are shorter, but the par 4s and 3s make up for that distance. The Par 3s measure 199 yards, 175 yards, 193 yards, 199 yards, and 212 yards, respectively starting from No. 1.
Other than a few patchy spots in the fairways, the course was in "very good" shape on a scale of Poor - Excellent (a 4 out of 5). Greens ran a little slow, but we played it July 20 late afternoon, so it was expected.
Highly recommended and worth the $32.
Good course.
Greens were large and contoured and in excellent condition. Cart paths were pretty steep on a couple holes. It would have been scary if they were wet. Ball sits up nicely in the fairways. Roughs were fair for amateur golfers. Pace of play was excellent.
