has interesting holes
Very nice .Course is a little short but the tight fairways on the front 9 makes it a challenge. The back opens up a little but is still challenging. Over all a great value for the money.
Very nice course
We had a great round of golf on a Friday afternoon. Very friendly staff!!!!
Unless you get a deal this course is too pricey for the quality.
Nicely kept course, not a bad public course just a little expensive for the quality. Bunkers could also be maintained better.
Course has variety of challenges for all players.
Course was in good shape, play was at a good pace. Course offers a variety of challenges, good for most players.
The course was ok but there was a dispute over a rate the owner would not honor. Bad business.....
Don't recommend because of staff experience. Look for other courses.
This course has come a long way in just a few short years.
The Pheasant Ridge golf course has come a long way from the course it was just a few years ago. It is a fairly hilly course but one that should be able to be played by players of all skill levels. It is very well maintained and has a very helpfull and friendly staff. If I had one criticism , it would be the speed of the greens. They should be made faster. Other than that we would play the course often.
Staff is not friendly. Actually he was mean at cashier desk.
It's trickery.
I have never met such a mean person from cashier.
I recsered from golfnow.com with good price, but it was not as good price as I expected because the price was only for (Sr.). Waht happend... "Are you over 60 years old?" without any polite... I was so disappointed.
Lots of hills, tiered greens and woods-a higher handicaps nightmare!
Cut out of the Western Pennsylvania hills is this course that has elevated greens, elevated tees, hills , woods , water and blind shots . Pheasant Ridge is not for everyone-many tees shot must make it past interupted fairways to become in play. Water is in play on six holes and the trees are in play every hole. Shot placement is key, leave your lengthy clubs at home and stay below the holes.
Good round
When I arrived they paired me with another gentleman and we played our 18 holes together. The course was in great shape and it was an ideal round for the price.
BEAUTIFUL course, very well maintained, good value.
I am a Pitt student, and this is my favorite course in the Pittsburgh area. Played a round in late september, just as leaves were beginning to turn. The course was absolutely gorgeous in terms of scenery and layout. The grounds are extremely well maintained, fairways and greens are lush and hydrated. It's a bit of a drive from Pittsburgh proper, but this makes for a secluded and peaceful weekend round.
The starter was very helpful and friendly, and while he definitely ran a tight ship for golfers who were disrespectful, he was joking around with us- a refreshing change from most stern, intimidating starters.
The course offers a variety of hole styles, from short and creative par threes to challenging par fives with considerable topography and length. While the course is challenging and keeps better players interested, it was forgiving enough to be enjoyable for novices (my partner and I are both off ~20).
Overall I would highly recommend Pheasant Ridge for quality of golf and for the peaceful scenery. Try it on an autumn weekend- gorgeous!
This course is challenging and hilly, beautiful scenery.
I found the course to be challenging due to several holes going up steep hills. I generally prefer courses that are more walking-friendly. The course is beautifully set into the rolling hills and woods, and well-maintained.
Short but interesting layout
For late in the year, course was in good condition. Also, got a rate of $17 on golfnow, which cannot be beat.
greens were excellent
I liked the course, but it was too far away. Construction on route 28 slowed everything down. 1 and 1/2 hours is too far to drive for golf. I'm glad we played it once.
Excellent conditions for being late in golf season.
Pheasant Ridge will always be a great golf value as long as the rates are reasonable. The conditions were as good as I've seen there in 20 years of playing there. During peak playing times, it is extremely slow being over 5 hours to play. Our foursome played in 4 hours, and I think that is a great accomplishment. Hope golfers give Pheasant Ridge a try. Will be pleasantly surprised.
Good Course.
Winding tree-lined fairways, multi-tiered greens require accurate ball striking, good club selection, and ability to shape some shots.
Challenging course with all the up and down terrain
It's a great course with some easy holes (1st couple holes especially), but increases with difficulty from there - mostly due tothe undulating nature of the fairways. That's Pittsburgh for you...not too many flat lies. Greens are being aerated now...
Beautiful course and very well maintained.
Phesant ridge is a beautiful course about thirty minutes north of Pittsburgh. We played the second week of October, so the leaves were in full turn. The course was remarkably well kept from quality of grass on fairways and roughs to the newly redone bunkers and hazards. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. Great course to play especially with the GolfNow hot deal. Definitely will return!
Great but may be hilly for some
My wife and I found this course beautiful as well as carefully attended. Although hilly, fairways remained flat so true shots were rewarded. Looking foward to next Monday as we'll try to play again with our daughter and son-in-law
fantastic setting with a great staff.
I would recomend this course to anyone. The course is always well taken care of. The layout is nice with the exceptions of 2 holes. The staff is fantastic. I can't say enough for this course. Get out and play the pheasant today...
Great condition year round
One of the better courses in every way on Rt 8, they have great/friendly service, and good course management as far as getting you on and off the course goes. I consider this my home course because if I'm going out after work for nine holes and have to play one of the Rt8 courses this is always my first choice. I would recommend this course to anyone thay doesn't mind a little bit of a challenge.
