Starter needs replaced
After golfing for over 30 years and playing some of the tops courses in the nation, I was sorely disappointed in the staff at this course. Having played here before I enjoy the trade off of relaxed standards for the cost of play and previously welcoming atmosphere- this is why I chose to bring my two sons 23/13 to play.
The starter had issue with my 13 year old from the start- was condescending and discouraging to a young golfer just starting out. The starter then yelled at my 23 year old for playing from the white tees, saying that he had instructed him to play from the gold. The starter went as far as looking at my clubs and suggesting what tees I play at as well. He then suggested we would need to play best ball because it was unlikely that my 13 year old could keep up(again quite discouraging to a new golfer). Ironically we waited at nearly every tee box for the group in front of us. I’ve played at some of the top courses and paid pretty hefty to do so and each course has always been welcoming (including two weeks ago with 13 year old). I will not be back to this goat ranch and do not recommend it.
Good Game
Friendly staff at nice course. 14 slope in good condition.
Meh
Layout is fairly easy and friendly towards lesser skilled players and seniors. A few interesting holes but mostly forgettable. Yellow tee markers were put at the red tee yardages on the scorecard on many holes. Course routing makes it easy to skip around if you get stuck behind a slow group with nobody in front of them, which we did as we were trying to beat the rain. Course is relatively easy to walk with a few minor hills. Pushcarts are available.
Greens were very slow and soft, seemed like several different types of grass on many of them and they just rolled inconsistently. Hole 6 has a temporary green mowed in the fairway in use. Fairways and rough were pretty good. Tees mostly ok, some very hard, some on the back nine had some thick crabgrass type stuff growing on them.
The rate was good given the location but I’d probably only play this again if I lived nearby and couldn’t get a tee time at Bucks Club or Five Ponds which cost more but have better conditions.
Horrible
Course needs to learn how to cut the grass, greens are longer than most fairways, the actual fairways are like a first cut. One holes whole fairway was mud. Terribly slow
Not bad -pleasantly surprised
Enjoyed the round. Course not too bad. Took 5 hours though
