Maybe lost in time
This is a tough review but still needs to be objective. This course at one time was probably a masterpiece and a desired course to play. It does however look like there may have been a lack of investment along the way and the course shows it. This summer has been tough for area course as well and this course was no exception. I think they did a good job dealing with the dry weather but there were still areas that look like they have just been neglected. Speed of play was excellent, while the fairways were decent and manageable, the greens were hard, fast, and unforgiving. Getting a shot to check up on the greens was nearly impossible. This course is a hour from home and for the price point I can find better courses to play in that hour radius for the same or less. Not sure if I’ll play there again. Maybe re-evaluate next season if it’s not as dry.
Great Challenging Course!
If your a mid to low handicap this course is in great condition with plenty of blind tee shots and plenty of slope to make you watch your ball for the next 10 seconds to see where it ends up. Somerset makes you think logically and likely you’ll be keeping your driver in the bag on most par 4’s. All in all super fun experience.
emrh
excellent course. Nice layout. some picturesque holes. greens/tees excellent. fairways not bad condition considering drought.
Old school course.
Loved the course. The food is ok. beautifully maintained old school course. Nice layout. Some scenic holes.
somerset country club
nice course, the only draw back, was,it was real wet from rain, other than that, the course is in nice shape.
Love course
Loved the course. Nice layout, well maintained. Traps need work.
Great Greens, but a little confusing to navigate
Very large, soft greens, overall nice conditions. Theyre trying to deal w alot right now. No one wants to work etc... But it would really help to have a map or something on the scorecard or cart to know where the next hole is next. The cart paths are inconsistent but you really cant beat the value. 15.99 Hot Deal is worth the hour drive.
Scenic gem
Outstanding views, friendly staff, and overall a very nice round of golf. Course puts an emphasis on club selection, a few of the par 4s require irons off the tee. Tee boxes weren't in the greatest shape, and find the next tee was difficult at times. But I'd play it again in a heartbeat.
Loved it!
This is a very nice track with a unique layout. It offers a good mix of hazards with moderate greens. The layout forces you to pre-plan your shot selection and focus on course management. Big hitters can’t score just by knocking the cover off the ball. Some of the fairways are fairly tight and give you looks through doglegs and tree cover providing a moderate challenge.
The greens had been spiked at some point in the week leading up to my round. Regardless of the dimples, the greens played true to pace and I’m looking forward to putting them in their pure form. Fairways and tee boxes are well groomed and presented as one would expect. Bunkers were raked and fluffed adequately. Electric carts in very nice condition, fairly new, clean with turf repair bottles.
I thoroughly enjoyed my round at this club. It was my first play here and I will certainly be looking to schedule here several times a season. I would recommend this course to any golfer but particularly those who take the game seriously with average skill or better.
Next year
Layout was good, but the greens were not in very good shape especially on the front. They said it was a chemical mix up that should be recovered next year. Staff was luke warm at best. You could tell some of the members don't like outsiders coming in. Plenty of room for improvement "course & staff", but I would go back, just not this year.
