Remote, friendly, inexpensive
The course is WAY out there and was super cheap. Everyone working there was exceedingly nice. It’s short and easy. Greens rolled well and not difficult. Fairways were in need of seeding to fix old divots and dead spots. Tee box and sand traps were ok. Layout was a bit basic on front none. Back nine mixed it up more.
The clubhouse was a bit dated but large enough for good sized group.
This is what I expected for this location. Not enough customers with greens fees to make it wonderful but it was cute and quaint. I liked the folks there and I could see making it a regular spot and getting to know friends there. I enjoyed it enough to play again when back in the area.
a good course
this is a well kept course that in under utilized. traps could be in better shape. fairways and roughs are generally kept in good shape. takes about 4 hours to play

Towanda cc
Course was wet but playable, greens were very good.
Best course in the area
The Towanda Country Club is the finest course in the region. While the course isn’t very long, it does have a lot of character. What it lacks in distance, it more than makes up for in three distinct ways; the hills, the rough and the greens.
Being set in Endless Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania, this course has many elevation changes. In some situations, a 110 yard approach shot can easily play around the 140-145 range. This course really makes you think about club selection.
The greens crew keeps this course in as good a shape as you will find anywhere in the area. And, while the rough is usually kept to a fair and playable length, it can be extremely thick. If you struggle to keep the ball in the short grass on a consistent basis, you could find yourself in for a long day. Some areas of rough on this course require some real strength to advance the ball. Many times the wise decision may be to play a safe shot back to the short grass.
Finally, the greens. Here you will find where this course gets it’s true character. These greens are the nicest in the area by far. They are kept in pristine condition and roll smooth and true. You will find a handful of fairly small greens, a handful of fairly large greens and everything in between. One thing they all have in common, you won’t find too many straight putts. On some of these greens, you’ll find putts that may break 3-4 times. They provide quite the challenge to even the most skilled putters. Watch out for #8!
Combine the course with the friendly staff and fair pricing, this course is the ideal place for anyone who loves the game.
A couple other offerings at the Towanda Country Club. There is a small pro shop with a nice selection of golf apparel, balls, clubs, towels, shoes and a few other things. The 19th Hole, (name of the clubhouse restaurant) offers some really great food options. The pricing needs some adjusting here and there, but overall the food is good. Lastly, there is a nice size putting green, as well as a large practice net (no driving range).
A couple critiques. The Towanda Country Club isn’t a true “Country Club”, as it lacks some of the amenities needed to reach that title, (no swimming pool, tennis courts, etc...). At one time there was a swimming pool, but that has been gone for some years now. While the course is in fantastic shape, some general improvements and repairs need to be made to the pro shop and clubhouse.
Overall, the Towanda Country Club provides a great golf experience to players of all ages and skill levels. The staff and grounds crew work really have to ensure everyone has a truly enjoyable golf experience. I highly recommend this course!
