Good Choice
A perfect day to enjoy a 3 hour play in the afternoon.
Dotori
It is a good course but there are too many residential houses too close to fairways.
Hats off to the grounds crew......
We played this course the day after a horrible rain event in the area. All things considered the grounds crew had the course ready for play (They could not help some standing water on some holes). I live nearby this course and it is convenient for me to play in the late afternoon. It is great to see that the maintenance crew does their best to keep up with all areas of the course.
Play Smart
The houses left and right make it an interesting course. You need to "play smart" It is not important to play the holes off the tee with a driver. Play a controlled game you can score well.
The greens are always in great shape. The fairways are shaping up. the traps have been improved to make them competitive.
The issue. Golfer ETIQUETTE!. its gone. Since the course has some short holes, slow players just don;t get it, no rangers or signs, which should not need if people sued common sense. Let the faster players though and you can RELAX and play your slow game.
I don't agree with the replay cost of $13, I think it is extreme and send home early the captured audience. Although the course says "the price is competitive" that is a canned answer all courses use to justify their cost. $8 would keep people at the course and in the restaurant spending more $$$$$.
Favorite course
I have always liked playing at shepherd Hills. The course is fairly straight, the grounds are well taken care of and There are no real surprises on the course.
I love the Happy Hour on Friday evenings. The practice putting green is very challenging in a good way. It's a huge learning curve. This is my number one course of choice.
Great course, but watch out for houses.
Beautiful fairways and greens however this golf course is in the middle of developments. If you shank or slice a ball badly you're going to hit a house.
Bargain Hot Deal
Played the course at 1:30 pm in 90 plus temps and thankfully got around in 3 hours.
The greens at Shepherd Hills are always among the best in the area and the pro shop
people are helpful and accommodating.
nicest greens this yesr
played in 3 hrs, course is lush after the rains. new pro shop, some new cart paths. best deal for your money!
nicest greens this year so far!
Work Still to Go
Many wet spots, especially on 18. The sand traps need much work.
The price was right!
$25, senior to ride. Tees were good, greens were good
fairways were a little sparse. I should have called ahead as the front 9 was closed do to aeration. It would be nice to know this sooner, as we drove quite some distance to play this course. Play was slow, we waited at every tee. For the purist it would not be esthetically pleasing, as it plays through a developement and there are homes on every hole.
Food was good at Krock's
Pleasantly Surprised!
Found out about this course and booked a tee time to play three days later. Didn't know much about it other than it was near Krock's Pub where I had been before.
I then looked at the address and noticed it was completely surrounded by houses - one both sides of probably 85% of the fairways. My expectations dropped thinking it would be too narrow. I WAS WRONG!
The course was in excellent shape and the fairways were fine. It was actually pretty neat with all the houses and unlike any other course I've played.
We practically had the entire course to ourselves for a Saturday morning (we went very early) and got an enjoyable round in. No real challenging holes, but good variety. Played very well on front 9, but liked the back 9 better. Two very good par 5s.
Staff was awesome and beer prices were outstanding too. Stopped in at the pub for lunch after too. Great food!
