Putting Green and Hole No. 9 Photo submitted by ShragMagtite on 04/20/2020
The up coming course in Upper Cumberland
Although the course conditions we wet, they were drier than the others. Since the change in ownership you can see the difference, The greens are the best around by far.
Great improvements
Even though this course has been around since the 90’s, it has recently changed ownership and the quality of improvements are amazing. Greens are some of the best in the area and more work is in the planning stages. Thanks White Plains Golf Club for your hard work...it is definitely appreciated.
It’s a great course
We try to play once a week and the course is well maintained staff and 90% of the people that play here has good attitudes and are friendly just a great place to play but don’t expect to keep all the balls you play with
Chilly Golf Game
Great course, it was just too cold to be playing right now.... the greens are practically concrete.
Great course
This is my go-to course in Cookeville. Best greens, friendly staff, usually no waiting, beautiful setting.
Great condition for november
Course in great shape for time of year. Staff friendly. Great value.
Challenged my game
This is a nice course. 3rd time to play here. The fairways are a little rough but still provide good lies most of the time. The greens are sometimes small and some of them are tricky to hold because of the way the are tiered and sloped. Go enjoy this course.
Nice layout, challenging my game
Keep seeing this course pop up on Golfnow with some great hot deal prices. A friend from church and I went about 2 weeks ago and I wanted to play it again. I found it a challenge and required course management to avoid trouble.
Where's the next hole? and the Rough!?
1st. all employees were very nice! and i read the reviews which after playing are very misleading!
2nd. course looked great from the road!
and here we go....
3rd.......and so on
im about a 10 handicap and so is my son.
i thought i could hit out of any rough, but i was wrong!
the fairways ranged from 15 yds wide to 30yds. ( except for maybe 2 or 3 ).
needless to say, i was in the rough quite a bit. the only description of this rough is ...MOWED TANGLED VINES!!
ive played us open rough and it has nothing on this stuff...
par 3's are surrounded by this stuff so make sure you hit the green.
it was as though they learned how to mow a briar thicket (The Whole Course)
to perfection.
this was rough you find if you hit one 75 yds right into a cow field and u jumped a fence, determined to find and hack your ball back in play!!!
im sorry i didnt take a picture of it but ive played some 200 plus courses and i was speechless.
in almost every case, if you were in the rough your ball was virtually undetectable. so if u decide to try this course, you better watch the ball Carefully!
after hole 3 the course becomes a Maze and you start out lost!
hole number 8 tees are right beside number 3 green, and since the concrete hole markers (telling you hole number and distance) are down at the white tees and we played the back tees, we played it next by mistake. ( tees...back to forward colors...Orange, blue, white, and so on)
we had to ask someone where hole 4 was and after a 500+ yard in the opposite direction treck and 2 streets later we found it.
after that, the front nine's cart trails and hole designs made it ok to make it to the turn.
NOW for the real crazy part!
the back nines rough is more prevalent and only about 10% of the back nine has cart trails.
there are 3 par 3's on the back
and a 230 yard par 4 (from the back tees)
back tees which included the blue and white tee markers was a
turf mat?!?!
#10 is 300yds of fairway and 250+ yads to the green of the twisted vine rough.
im not sure what hole it was...#14 i think...the first 175 yds is the vine rough and then a big gully that leads back up to the green. the gully is the fairway (or was fairway) its now dirt with a few splotches of normal grass here and there.
Final note:
Until the rough is changed, holes marked better and the back nine in better condition don't waste your time.
it looks great
plays unbelievably bad
and the people are nice.
Nice course
The fairways and greens were in good shape. We enjoyed our day very much. The grill wasn't open so we couldn't get lunch which was kind of A bummer. had to settle for chips and crackers. Other than that it was great
Great layout but....
The fairways - some are good and some are terrible. The bunkers are good and the greens were in pretty good shape for bent grass in the summer. In all we had a great time and the course manager (Jeff) really went out of his way for us. We'll be back the next time we're in TN.
Nice course. Very Friendly at check in
Interesting lay out with character. Great condition and welcoming staff. Clean facilities, we'll kept and great value
Great Golf
Have played here many times since Janurary, and it gets better every time. Love play 6 times and the 7th is free. If you ate a senior this is the place to play. GREAT price.
Beautiful course
I really enjoy playing here. It's not a very long course, but the layout is one of my favorite features .
Friendly and fun
I play here frequently and enjoy the course and staff. The course in general is in really good shape. I played here a couple of weeks ago and I was impressed with the greens however when I played on Sunday, the greens were a tiny bit rough, the aeration marks were evident and they affect the ball trajectory making it difficult to play the natural break in the green. I wish they had more snacks and beer, the selection was slim.
Always liked this course
Little early in the year for fairways but the greens were in great shape. I've always liked this course
Scenic Course Surrounded by Hills
I played this course in March of 2017 for the first time in 13 years. The course is essentially the same with a few more houses built around the periphery.
The bermuda grass fairways were dormant but are full when warm weather sets in. The bent grass greens were in excellent condition and rolled true. This course is located a few miles east of Cookeville, TN and is in a hollow surrounded by hills. It is quite scenic and very quiet -- no planes or jets overhead, no major highways nearby.
The pro shop is stocked very well and the grille offers several tasty items. Staff was very friendly.
Pace of play on the front nine was quick, but slowed down considerably on the back due to a gambling foursome that had several groups backed up (there were four groups at one time on the par-5 18th hole). But this place is usually not terribly crowded.
