Downhill after becoming the city course
This course was never the absolute best, but was always a fun 18. The staff is alright now, but not as friendly, and the greens are not in as good of shape as they've been. Also, a lot of projects in progress, mainly trees being maintained, that are just left in piles, some are just off the fairways.
Good round!
Hot in Texas that day. Little to no breeze. Greens were firm but friendly. Fairways well watered, but still a little soggy in shady areas. Shot my best round to date on this course... Great experience overall...
The worst ever
This course has been around for a long time. Has always been a tight tough course kept in pretty good conditions.
The City of Bryan recently took over maintenance of the course and it’s the worst ever!
I don’t plan to play there again unless something changes!
Very sad to see...
Overall great course and fantastic value
This is my favorite local course due to the hills, trees, and wandering nature of the course. Greens are in pretty good shape, a few bunkers are wet, and some of the tee boxes (especially the par 3's) are very hard. The driving range is very basic but everything else is just great love it.
Very good course, except the day I played was crowded making the pace of play slower. Could do more maintenance around some greens and fairways. Overall excellent.
Interesting course.
First time to play and it is a nice and challenging course. The city of Bryan has taken it over and they are updating it. It was well maintained. It can be challenging for a duffer like myself. The staff is very friendly and also the people I met on the course were nice and helpful to where you need to place your shots.
lots of trees
Briarcrest has lots of trees. Therefore, lots of leaves. Difficult to find your ball. Glare off the leaves from sun makes it look like balls everywhere. Otherwise good course . Harder than most with narrow fairways.
Worst customer service
I was singled out for not wearing a golf jacket. I saw multiple people wearing sweats, baseball pullovers, and shirts without collars. I was also the only non-white male on the golf course. I play 20+ rounds a year. No Marshall on course for the Holliday weekend. Multiple 5 somes and very slow pace of play. They let the member tourney tee off early and several groups had their tee times pushed back after purchasing. Fortunately this was not our group. I am embarrassed for the staff for their conduct. Terrible behavior and etiquette. I have never been treated worse at a golf club.
Great course
Tough course with fast greens. Beautiful course to play
Excellent fairway turf through out the course.
Very enjoyable round total relaxation. Easily navigated with good cart paths. Greens in great shape.
Only addition I would add would be vertical markers for the 100, 150, & 200 to ease distance calculations.
Can't wait to return for round two!
Good Tight Course
Since Mr. Phillips purchased the old Briarcrest Country Club he has poured a good bit of money into it. New carts, improved cart paths, nice new grill with HUGE screens for playing electronic golf.
The course itself has gotten some additional TLC that was lacking. There are stall a few rough spots, but I think the course is improving.
I wish he had not discontinued the "Advantage Card" program that permitted me to play for frequently at a rate more in line with my golfing budget, but I've managed to get some good prices via GolfNow so I still get to play. Just not every week.
The fairways are lined with TREES!!! It pays to keep your tee shots straight, or know how to bend around the trees because going over or through is not a good option. Out of bounds on the right of many holes as well.
Hadn't been since high school
Overall my experience was good. We booked our group for 3 but had a 4th show up late. Golfnow forgot to update the prices for July th holiday so we got our round extra cheap. Renovations being done in club house made things a little less eye appealing and kitchen was closed due to holiday. I will go back and will recommend to friends!
Good layout
Faded glory course but good value for money. Facility for food beverage currently under renovation
Excellent shape! Bring your game!!
This course has matured into a nice, fairly difficult, track. The fairways are in excellent shape, greens were rolling nicely too! Finding the fairways is a must!! Definitely in as good a shape as I've seen it in!! Bring your A game though. This used to be a private course, so now that it's available to public it should be on your to do list.
This course is fun
This course is challenging yet is the most fun course I have played.
