A good beginner/executive course and convenient for a quick 9

Jefferson District is a popular course among seniors and offers a nice opportunity to walk through the compact 9-hole course that, while short, offers some variety and occasional challenges.

Be prepared to tolerate hackers and newbies to the game, as the location and scale of the course attracts all comers. Also be prepared for greens that are perennially the slowest in the area.

Overall, the course has some fun shots. hit a wedge over the trees into 1, tangle with power lines on 3, carry the pond with a wedge on 4, try to drive the green on 6 and 9, and just enjoy the walk. Yes, do walk, as there is no reason not to...it's been dismaying to see more and more carts on a course that really has no need for them.

Just not that great

To be fair, first I will say the greens were as good as you can get with winter conditions. Though if you're a player of skill, just pay a few more dollars and go play somewhere else. Cue-tips and hacks have at it. Also, it should be a crime to charge $18 to walk this course in winter conditions, being forced to play from forward tees. Unlikely I'll be playing here often, unfortunate because this is the closest facility to my house.

Very Nice 9 Hole Course

The staff is friendly. The course is in good shape. The building is clean but could use some updating. Food and beer priced reasonably.

Nothing Special

If you need a quick round of 9 this course will do. Other then that there are many better courses in the area. They keep the course in good shape. Nothing really great about the course, but nothing bad either. The only thing was the gnats were just horrible while trying to play. Little black clouds flying around.

Beginners

This course is entertaining, short, decently taken care of and good for a quick 9, but nothing more. Perfect place to take someone learning to play but I never find myself going back. Only one real driving hole which is a par 5 at around 400 yards...which isn't a real par 5. So again, good for beginners to learn the game without being punished by this hard game, but would not recommend to single digit handicappers.

For the price, not bad

This was the second time I played at the Jefferson. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, so everyone was out on the course. Course is very well-kept. Greens and fairways were beautiful. It's a very easy course. The longest hole is a par-5, 399 yards. As for the personnel, the starter was very rude and seemed agitated due to the traffic that day. For some reason, he decided to catch an attitude and make a smug remark.
The pace of play is very slow because of how many people were out there. For $20some dollars, it's a great value.

Good 9 Holes

Nice way to spend afternoon. Courses in Fairfax County generally in very good condition. Course moderately challenging. Course central loc in Fairfax County convenient. Am a regular player. Sometimes inexperienced players slow down play.
