Stay away from this goat path
Just played hickory heights in bridgeville pa. Course t boxes horrible shape . Some of the greens too. 43 dollar senior weekday rate a waste of money. They are obviously not interested in improvements.. it is in worse condition than when i played it 10 years ago.
Value
Course and food value was exceptional, the course conditions are mailing it more playable. Only lost 1 ball.
Completely rundown and overpriced.
It's been a couple of years since I last played this course and it will be a long time until I return.
The course was never a favorite due to a layout that can be charitably called "quirky". Not so charitablity be deemed awful. Not a lot of really strong holes and too many weak holes.
Worse than the course itself was the course conditions. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes were horrendous. Dead or diseased areas, not spots, areas, all over the place. The one hole had every single tee box closed for repair. The 9th green had parallel gouges in it that were clearly from improper mower settings. They don't seem to know what they're doing.
The staff was nice enough, but need better training. The beverage cart ladies came up the path while we were on the tee and drove right up to our carts but couldn't get around. I was about to tee off, but had to ask them to move since they were essentially right in front of the tee box and were in danger of being hit. They couldn't move the cart and decided to jump out to move away. Now I had to tee off with a cart in front of me.
All of this for $57. Couldn't pay me to play there again.
The only good thing was that the food at the clubhouse was good. Much better than the actual golf. OK, pace of play was reasonable, but that's because no one was there cause it's not worth playing.
Course conditions very bad
The greens and tee boxes on this course are in horrible shape. It looks like they have a fungus or insect infestation. It definitely is not worth the price given the poor condition.
Fun course
Enough of a challenge for anyone. Great layout. No bugs. Well run facility.
Not for the faint of heart
This course was in excellent shape. Challenging, but very enjoyable! The greens were fairly fast, but I believe they could be cut even tighter. However, they rolled true. The course required you to hit the ball straight. There were definitely issues created by bad shots. Just the way a golf course is supposed to be. I’ll be back.
Worth the find...
A little off the beaten path but greens immaculate. Ran fair and true. Not a bad Price for a Sunday round. We were first group off. Fairways a little tight but in very good shape. Up and down lies but expected either course in this area. Would definitely recommend and will play again when back in town.
Nothing spectacular
Only played 4 holes before rain came in and we got washed out. Greens were nice and quick, fairways and rough were a bit burnt out, bunkers were all raked nice. Best part of the course is the nice carts with the GPS systems....
Told the guy inside we only played 4 holes, instead of getting a rain check for all 18 he gave us the value "minus the holes we played". We payed $32, only got rain check for $24, so will have to pay additional $8 when we come back.
Overall, from the 4-5 holes we saw, pretty decent for $32. Wouldn't pay the $40 or $48 on weekend.
