The BOG
About
The Bog in Saukville has consistently been ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in Wisconsin. At 7,110 yards from the back tees, it is a course that will test both your distance and accuracy. The course takes no time in introducing its challenges. It opens with an uphill par 5 that requires a straight tee shot in order to avoid the bunkers that line both sides of the fairway. There are also at least 12 bunkers within 100 yards of the greens just waiting to swallow up errant shots. The golf course also provides a scenic round with mature trees and lush landscaping enclosing most of the holes. It can be a tough test but different sets of tees make it more approachable. The Bog is also a popular place for its practice facility, which includes a driving range and short game area.

Reviews
bad weather good round
Round started at 84 degrees ended in the rain and 54 degrees. The game was like the weather started great The course became very slow. the course is very good but has a couple of holes that are to ghimcky without local knowledge.
Course Good but Some Staff Could be Nicer
It was my first time at the course and we played on a Saturday. It was busy, but we were playing at a good rate and not wasting time in any manner.
Since it was our first time, we did have some problems with lost balls, but played ready golf and were very conscious of the time.
As we made the turn, the ranger told us that the group ahead had been too slow and since he told them to "pick up the pace:", then so should we. We took his message to heart, but then there was a twosome behind our foursome that must have expected to play a round on a busy Saturday afternoon in under 4 hours and they were not patient one bit. I thought I heard them chewing out the ranger. The ranger ended up timing our 10th or 11th hole and it ruined my appreciation of the day and the golf course. It was not a good first impression.
I play an average of about 2-3 rounds per week and have played an many courses that are new to me this year and this was an unfortunate experience for all involved.
I know there are pressures to finish up in a timely manner on a golf course, but people don't have to get so pushy, crabby and unfriendly. It is SUPPOSED to be fun.
I liked the course a lot. I found it very challenging but I was playing pretty well and other than that incident, the course was very nice and the rest of the staff were fun and helpful. Thank you to all the staff in the drink carts, the pro shop and the bar. You guys were all super.
Variety
Great variety of greens, pin placement, and line of sight to the greens from the tee. Full service friendly staff at the course. Challenging. Has a good variety of tees for different levels of players' experience!
Good course with some challenging holes.
Nice course with some challenging holes. Well maintained and in great condition.
Avoid The Bog
I usually enjoy Palmer designs but I am not a fan of this course layout. Too many blind shots with no signage or sufficient hole maps. It is as though they tried to cram 18 holes into too few acres. In addition, the range was beat up as well as the tee boxes. I had an 8:40 AM tee time and the traps were not raked from the night before. The only “silver lining” was the greens. They ran true at about an 11 on the Stimpmeter. With this in mind, clearly the condition of the course was not equal to the price. Speaking of the price….I was quoted a discounted price on the phone and charged a higher one upon arrival. The pro shop staff was rude and not accommodating. If you are looking for quality golf in the area I would travel a little further north and play The Bull or the Kohler courses. Yes you will pay more but the experience is equal to the cost. With a lot of quality courses to choose from in the area, I will not be back.
Most over-hyped course in the state
Nice facilities and staff. Never have I played a course that is as enjoyable. Numerous blind shots. The worst part is simply extremely poor markings on the course -no maps, no gps on carts. Insane for what you pay here. They have 9 bottles of pivot sand on all tees (including par 5 and 4s, yet they can't be troubled to put up any type of info anywhere on how to have an idea to best play the hole. Just hit over the hill and hope seems to be the order of the day. I expected much more from an Arnold Palmer design.
Thank you for taking time to assess our course conditions, facility & express your opinions. Of course, we appreciate all types of feedback so we can understand from the customers viewpoint and make corrective action.
Please note: We do not have GPS on our golf carts. However, we do have yardage books available for $5, the golf course is well marked on both sides of the fairway's sprinkler heads & cart paths are marked with yardages as well. In addition, we do have an APP for smart phones on our mobile website: m.golfthebog.com that provides aerial flyovers of each hole & also GPS yardages for each hole. Our mobile website is displayed in the message holder of each golf cart. We also demo LaserLink RH2 Rangefinders for trial. Customers can take out if available or reserve one with their tee time. Many golfers today currently own LaserLink, Bushnell, or Golf Buddy type yardage measuring devises or GPS Systems.
A Must Play
This course is very challenging and I would put it the top 10 in WI easily. Not a sprayers paradise, you have to hit shots, so for you low handicappers, get there and play from the tips. Fairways were great, bunker were in great condition, and greens were fast and firm. Great course!
Target Golf
I was very disappointed playing this course. I will agree it is a very beautiful setting with some elevated tee's and manicured fairways. That is about all I can say that was good about the course. This is what most people call a resort type of course. A majority of the tee shots are blind and they have no aiming post whatsoever in the fairways so you know where to go. Most of the fairways are dogleg left or right or the fairway ends and another one begins. The course is very hilly and not a lot of room on either side of the fairways on most holes. If you enjoy hitting hybrids or iron's off the tee .. Then you would probably like the course. It's like playing a bunch of par threes all day long. We played the Blue Stake Tees. It is most definitely not worth $100 plus per person per round. They should be ashamed of themselves charging that much. We were fortunate that we went through golfnow.com for $71 a person.

There are actually only 3 doglegs at The BOG; #14, #16 & #17. There are also many holes that swerve or take a slight turn from being directly straight: #1, #3, #5, #6, #7, #9, #10, #12 & #18. The BOG has 5 sets of tee boxes for all levels of golfers and is built on the Cedarburg Bog out in the wilderness with a mild terrain and only a couple houses seen from the golf course.
Fun but challenging course
The Bog is a beautiful course that provides plenty of challenges. There were quite a few holes with 100-150' of carry over wetland areas. Pace of play was good - no backups whatsoever.
Very nice course
This was my first time playing this course and wow. Did not know where to hit the ball. Very tough for a middle handicap player. Unless you played before. Very challenging. Greens are fast but very true. Will most defenitly return to play again
Great place to play
The course was great. Course was in good condition and the greens were awesome! Would come back and play this course again in a heartbeat.
Always great
I've played this course several times and it always impresses me time after time. One of my favorites.
the Bog
sand traps were terrible, hard clay, no sand in them, not raked out by the grounds crew. No towel in the cart for players(really) for a high end place?
Aptly named "The Bog"
Recent weather made this course live up to its name...it was waterlogged. Rode, but cart path. Sand wash outs and pools in many bunkers. That said, still enjoyed the course and the experience. Greens were smooth and only will get faster when the course dries. Routing varied with nice views and no houses on the course! Played from the green tees and the course was plenty long for me. Had the blessing of being paired with a local who helped us navigate around the course. Will play here again.
Wisconsin Bog
Course had received 6 plus inches of rain in the days leading up to my playing it. It was still in good shape but a little soft in spots. Greens where not lightning fast but ran at a nice playable pace. Pace of play was good and overall a nice round of golf. Will play it again when in the area.
Love it
Played 3 hours after getting 3 inches of rain and the course held up very well. Bunkers were the only issue with a lot of them holding water which is understandable. So many challenging holes that you need to make sure you place your shots. Fairways in awesome shape. The greens could of been better, a little bumpy since last time I was there. Not sure they were rolled due to the rain. Great price for the course with the Hot Deal made it well worth it. Will be back soon.
I love the Bog
Best Father's Day ever. 3 1/2 hour round. Course is in very good shape. True, consistent greens. Very friendly staff. Loved the pace, but would have liked to see more people, because this is a fine course.
Nice
Good course to play once in awhile. We enjoyed the
Course.
Awesome Course
This course is incredible. Beautiful and challenging make the perfect combination. The only negative on this day was the ranger. Yes, it's his job to keep things on schedule. But based on how few people were on the course, he was kind of hounding us and almost following us the first 6 holes which was unpleasant. I've golfed here before a handful of times before and that's been the only minor dissatisfaction I've ever had
Great value for price
Got it on GolfNow's Hot Deals so was very happy with what I paid. Couse was in good condition but some fairways had dead spots (hopefully it is just because of the harsh winter). Overall enjoyed the course very much. I played as a single and there were some people in front of me that let me played through when I caught them so it was a good afternoon. I would highly recommend this course to anyone. Warning - choose the appropriate tee because it can be VERY challenging if you do not. Believe me, you and everyone playing behind you will thank you for choosing the correct tees.

The BOG has 5 sets of tee boxes for all levels of golfers and is built on 297 acres out in the Cedarburg Bog's wilderness with a mild terrain and only a couple houses seen from the golf course.
The BOG has 118 bunkers and it takes most of a day to properly groom all of the bunkers after an all day rain which we encountered the day and night of August 15th, the day before you played. Unfortunately, you had an early morning tee time.
When you booked your tee time, you did not identify yourself as using a Groupon voucher. If you had, you would have been quoted the proper rate. These Groupon vouchers have specific guidelines spelled out clearly on the Groupon: 1) Identify you will be using a Groupon 2) Groupon vouchers are deducted from web posted rack rates 3) Not valid in combination with internet specials, or any other specials.
We hope reconsider golfing The BOG again.
