Solid Course and Value
Spooner Golf Club 6/7/25
Nice practice green that allows chipping, didn’t have time to check out the range, but noticed it was across the street.
Was able to play with my Bro- and Mother-in-law, had an easy time booking a time around 745a and we were able to go out a few minutes early too.
Nice staff, pro shop guy let me snag a bag of tees on the house, we grabbed drinks from a friendly bartender at the turn, and noticed a drink cart guy was driving around once we were halfway through the back 9.
Great signage and good combo of cart paths and open grass to drive on (love that combo as we have all concrete paths typically in Houston).
Multiple tee boxes to choose from and longest was around 6450yds, and dated gas carts that they were cleaning as we were ready to head out.
Course was in good shape, greens were nicely manicured and probably rolled around a 10-11? Really enjoyed how consistent they were. No patches of note. Fairways were rewarding and provided lush approaches, and rough wasn’t too long and penal. Good mixture of holes, 9 towards the clubhouse is intimidating, yet a drivable par 4, and 18 was the star.
Would definitely play again for the $75 fee w cart. Looked to be nicest public course in the Spooner, WI area. Finished in about 4 hrs, and we stopped at the turn for a drink run.
Value: 8/10
Condition: 7/10
Pace: 8/10
Overall: 7/10
Excellent!!
Beautiful course! Friendly staff.
Pace was a tad slow but very expected on memorial weekend.
maybe a little early
great course. slow the 4some in front. greens just berated but beautiful course
Fresh plugged greens(beware)
Great course for the value!! Wish I woulda known they plugged the greens recently so it was nasty putting but I will return once the course rebounds.
Great Value nice country course
Very nice course about 1 hour from home but gets us to much nicer weather. Pace of play is good. Lots of wildlife to see at this country course.
Worth the drive
Exploring golf outside the Twin Cities Metro area this summer I made the drive to Spooner for a round of golf. The course is in excellent condition from tee to green. There is a driving range complete with a bunker and chipping green to warm up before the round or get in some or get in some practice.
Definitely worth the drive.
First off as a single I was finished in 2 1/2 hours so I can’t attest to the place of play.
Great Shape
Never get tired playing this little gem. Course is great shape.
A must play course!
Recommend you play this course! Wide selection of tees and challenging for all skill levels! Beautiful pines and fun to play!
great layout, enjoyable round
The course is tough for the average golfer if you can't drive the ball 180- 200 yds. You also need to control the ball, drive it fairly straight to score. The Spooner course is fair and totally enjoyable no matter what level of golf you play. The round was slow but our foursome survived and we would recommend it to all who get a chance to play it.
Fantastic Conditions
The course is in great shape! Tee to green very nice. Greens a bit slow but true and consistant. We followed a 5some and 4some and play was about 3:45 for 18 holes. Nice folks in clubhouse and bar/restaraunt. Great golfing experience. Highly recommend!
great course fun day
We got a great deal on golf now. The course was in excellent shape. It was a Saturday so the course was busy but it was a beautiful day and we finished in under 4 hours. One of the best golf courses in northern Wisconsin!
spooner Golf course
The golf course was excellent. My wife enjoyed the course so much we are playing a second day. I have played all over the US and this course for a public course is excellent. I thanked the staff and manager after our round.
Perfect Day
We got a great price on Golfnow on this wonderful course. We never waited at any hole nor felt hurried.
A perfect day for golf on a wonderful layout.
Great Value
Course is in great shape already. Greens are fast, fairways and tee boxes look good. Lots of short holes to give you options about which club to use off the tee, but trouble to get in to if you don't pick your spots well. Course is worth the money even without a "hot deal" but grab one up if you can.
Enjoyable course to play
Played mid-day with a friend of mine mid-week. Course condition was excellent, great grass in fairways, greens were great as they rolled true with a lot of undulations and slopes. Rough was medium depth but was a small penalty. Course design was mixed, some holes were pretty bland, others more imaginative. Not a long course but ok. Clubhouse was old and a bit worn. Food in the upstairs bar for lunch was not memorable, but beer was cold. Staff was great. Overall, I'd play again.
The course is well laid out.
Fun course to play. Greens are fast but soft. Much better course than I am use to.
Lake country gem
Have had the good fortune to play outstanding courses in many locales. Spooner's home course has country club claiber greens -- well maintained and fast. Overall course condition and design is excellent. Historical connection to Vardon shows. Great set of finishing holes. Highly recommended.
This course is super
Great course in excellent condition and fast greens. The service staff was great.
Best course in the area
The pace of play is always very good. Slower players conscientiously let others play through. The driving range has an excellent area for practicing chipping. All in all, a great golfing experience.
