Beautiful course with loads of potential
The tornado clearly affected this course but it is on its way back. Beautiful layout. It's huge! Don't have the feeling that your playing two holes at once here. Every gole is intimate and there's plenty of room and Beautiful views. Can't wait to see how this course comes back in the future. They are currently building a huge clubhouse and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Will 100% be back.
Great layout chewed up greens
Really enjoyed playing this course layout because it is long and creative. The fairways need some love and water, and the greens need to be rolled and maybe touched up on a couple spots. The gray wolf is definitely a good boy. Make sure to pet him. The golf cart was amazing, it was fast, and not one of those dumb electric ones that try to stop you randomly.
Water issues along with very patchy greens
This course is trying to find its way back to what it used to be. I think it’s going to take 3-5 more years before this course is in decent shape.
3/5
Course is coming back slowly. Showed up at 230 for tee time and saw 4 carts in the fairway on hole 1. Figured okay maybe it’s 4 singles (rare but whatever). Wait for 2 guys ahead of me to tee off, play hole 1 by myself. Come to #2 and the same 2 guys are waiting on 7!!! People in front of them. 4 guys 3 girls taking full swings completely missing the ball. I had to skip hole 2 completely and play through. Course is okay, greens are rough and fairways haven’t come in but in a few years this course will make a come back. Pace of play not being monitored at all
Rebuilding stage
Facility is in the rebuilding phase after a tornado went through there a few years back. Back 9 is in pretty good shape. Front 9 still has some work to be done. I think within a year or two this course has the potential to be one of Dayton’s nicer courses. All that being said I plan to play the course a lot more this year and for years to come!!
Great Price, worth the money.
Most of the holes were pretty wide open...a few were tight/challenging. The fairways were in good shape, the greens were not in good shape, lots of bald spots. Anew club house is being built, but they were selling snacks at the check-in shack. Customer service was great, very friendly/helpful. The course is 18 consecutive holes, you don't come back through after the 9th hole. Overall, I enjoyed the couse and would play it again at that same low price
Beautiful layout but needs work
Course is beautiful, and the layout is beautiful, staff is very friendly, but it looks like the course has been neglected for a while, fairways are dying. Greens are little ruff, bunkers have some grass growing. I’m sure they can clean up everything and make the course up to par, one thing is there is no clubhouse And that makes it very difficult for taking a break. Otherwise course layout is very good. For the price we pay for the green fees and for the cart is just amazing. It’s very cheap and very affordable. I think once the course is brought up to the level it was designed to, it would be challenging and enjoyable to play. I would play again.
Good Track; Will Return After Improvements
Course Layout and Design is really nice. Course is rebuilding after neglect and a tornado last year. New Clubhouse being built. Greens were great; fairways were a little thin like a course in August. Overall great price for current conditions. Plan to return in a year..
Course is getting there
This course was destroyed by a tornado a few years ago and was shutttered. New ownership is really making great strides bringing it back. Love the course and I am enjoying watching it come back to life. You have to pet the course dog Kai while you are there.
Has awesome potential
Great layout, I have been wanting to give this course a look, love the layout. Can’t wait to see the improvements take shape in the future. I will definitely be back later in the year to see the progress they have made, can’t wait to see the new clubhouse when finished. This course offers a challenge for all levels of golfers. Starts out relatively easy and gets more challenging, specially the back nine. Would recommend gps apps the first time played, trouble is hidden in spots, especially hole 18.
Big improvement in 1 year.
As many know, this is the old Chi Chi Rodriguez course that was damaged many years ago by the tornados. They’ve been working hard to bring the course back, and it shows this year. I played last year here multiple times and thought I’d review from that standpoint.
Staff has always been exceptionally friendly, which is pretty rare these days and much appreciated. The new clubhouse is framed up and workers were actively building. The temporary building they are using is more finished than last year and they have some inventory (balls, snacks, gloves, etc).
Tee boxes were pretty rough last year and have dramatically improved. While some need time to come around, everything is level and doable. Some tee boxes were looking really good.
Fairways still have some ways to go, but definitely have improved. They were smoking fast today, but there’s some rain in the forecast that could change things pretty quickly.
Greens have significantly improved from last year. Expectedly, still some work to be done, but I really like the direction it’s going. I’d probably give them most improved. Last year, some putts would do weird things going through burnouts and such. This year, only one hole was like that. Serious improvement.
Pace of play was great and the course presents some challenges but is fairly forgiving to all levels.
Only negative I can say, Golf cart paths are pretty brutal. Bring covers for your clubs.
Also, there was a really pretty Husky there that’ll follow you around, so you get doggy kisses. 10/10. Will pet again.
I’m not saying it’s perfect, but, when they get this course back in shape, it’ll no doubt contend for one of the best in the area.
I’ll be back again for sure.
Getting Better
We play here once a week. While the conditions aren't the best it's definitely getting better than it was last year. If you know anything about golf you'll see the improvements starting to take shape. People need to do their part by adhering to the cart rules and stop driving up onto the apron of the greens, rake bunkers and fix divots/ball marks.
Time will make this course better
The course is slowly developing. As the seasonal weather gets better the fairways and tee boxes will only improve. Greens weren’t too bad for this time of year. We enjoyed our round knowing the course is in its developmental and recovery stage. We will definitely come back and play it again.
Great Layout
I knew the course was rebuilding after a tornado and I got a Hotdeal to play it, so I thought, "why not." I also wanted to show support for the course, because our support is the only way this course is going to make a comeback. The layout was FANTASTIC! The fairways seem to be coming around. The tee boxes were a bit rough, but level, which is most important to me. Most of the greens were actually not too bad. There were a couple rough greens, but I've experienced that at courses that were not rebuilding. I'll definitely play here again and I encourage you to play here also. This course is going to be great!!
Needs work
Some of the greens were in pretty rough shape, nice course layout, friendly staff, definitely book on golf now for deal of the day, I was getting ready to book on GN, but called to see if I could have a rider along that wasn’t playing, and guy said I could just book it over the phone, price went from $25 to $35 in person.
Keep up the great work!
The course layout is excellent, along with the scenery. The owner is fantastic as well. This course was destroyed by an EF-4 tornado on Memorial Day about two years ago. This owner is investing LOTS of time, effort, and money into this place to bring it back even better than before.
The fairways and greens need some work, but are improving every time I play here, a new clubhouse is going to start being constructed soon, and this place will be fantastic at that point. As for the scenery….it’s a beautiful layout with some wide open fairways, and some tricky holes as well. I recommend this course and seriously….give the owner your support…..he is busting his butt to bring this course back.
