Too Many Groups of Four
Started the morning awesome, pace of play was good and didnt feel rushed or like i was waiting for anyone, started the back 9 and it went to Crap! I had to wait on a group of 4 that were super slow, then i had an older fella behind me that was playing fast enough to beat a world record. I ended skipping a hole so i could go ahead of this group to make a gap between the old guy and the slow guys (the old man caught up to them) i ended up behind what seemed like two or three more groups of four on the final 5 holes. I had to wait around 10-15 minutes behind ANOTHER single player for him to tee off then another 5-10 for so that i wouldnt get close to him. Course was great, a little muddy but cant do much about that. Greens are all SOLID. No crabgrass on greens anywhere! If pace of play was better this wouldve gotten 5 stars from me. I will be back again hopefully with less people to worry about.
Need a marshal
Pace of play is suffering badly with people treating a few holes like driving ranges.
Great value
Course is typically always in good condition. Bunkers need attention and the greens weren’t as good as normal but roll nicely. Fairways always in great condition. Only bad this is pace of play, seems to be a lot of new golfers playing recently and back up the course but not every round. Overall best bang for your buck in the area.
Greens need punching
All the BREC courses are in desperate need of punching. The greens are not receptive at all and the grass is starting to suffer. Still the best value you’ll find in the Baton Rouge Metro
Dry and fast
Biggest issue here is the pace of play. It’s always a cluster at 1 cause of the groups coming off 9 and the groups trying to start. Tee times don’t actually exist or mean anything. Course is extremely dry, lots of dead grass. Greens are like concrete. Layout is decent.
Great value
Love this course. Wish it was a full 18 but the 2 pin placements per green is nice. Conditions weren’t the best but it’s the winter so it’s understandable. During the summer it’s a great course to play without breaking the bank. Fairways could use some work and the bunkers definitely need attention but the greens are great.
Course holds up well to wet weather
Had a bunch of rain early in the day, but the course was still mostly dry. Even the sand was still dryish. JS Clark still remains the best bang for your buck in the Baton Rouge area by a wide margin.
Slooooow
Fun 9 hole course. Long walk if you don’t use a cart. Pace of play was really slow and there was no marshal to let groups know to pick up the pace. No starter either to group people together to make foursomes.
