Bay Pointe
If you can get a deal to play this course without having to pay full price go for it. Overall, course wise not a good layout, there’s a lot of great courses in the surrounding area that’s more enjoyable.
Excellent Course
The course has a great layout. It's a target style course, not a grip and rip it style. Conditions are very good. The greens are firm. The only thing I could see they could improve on, are the tee boxes. A few are chewed up a bit. One of my favorite courses
Nice
Maintained well with super fast screens, they're doing a lot of undercutting cleaning it up it's going to be really nice when the work is complete.
Staff is rude
Came to play on a Sunday at 11:00. Got there a lil past 10.
They had their local money game about to start. Big group of players all going out. Even 5-somes Why would they play this before 12 or 1? Would even let me start on the back nine. The old man running the pro shop was a grouchy old man too much backwoods brother-in-law crap going on. Don’t care about people coming to play. Just care about the locals. Carts were out of date. Driving range closed. I walked out and wasn’t offered a rain check. I was happy to eat my $38 than play a 5-6hr round. Absolutely terrible service
Should rate 3.4 not 4.4
I played in late Feb so my review might be tainted, but I found Bay Pointe to be somewhat overrated on Golfnow. I found it to rate more like a 3.4 than a 4.4.
Details follow if interested.
Course just doesn't have a 4.4 feel. It was definitely rough in winter conditions, grass totally dormant, and I didn't find the layout all that inspiring. The tall pines are nice enough, but it kind of winds around back on itself in spots through some pretty close houses, felt kind of goofy. LOTS of big dogleg holes, almost like the course doesn't fit the space. Lots of water, fairways pretty ragged, tee boxes mostly sparse, couldn't even see grass on some. But let's talk about the greens. At first look, they look pretty sad, grass little more than painted sand. The ball would literally splash the sand when hitting the green. All elevated, some very small, all have some slope but are almost completely flat. But to my surprise they actually held shots really well and rolled extremely true. I was pouring in putts from all over. Saved my round. And when you consider that it was a sunny, 70° day in late Feb and combine with the cheap afternoon rate, it wasn't a total loss. Probably only worth playing if it is absolutely your only option, as it was mine today.
Nice course
I really love this course. Some rolling hills, a beautiful canal with hanging moss in the trees, and well maintained greens.
Play here when you have the chance.
