Way too crowded
This course is pretty good. They clearly put a lot of work into maintaining it, and overall the conditions are solid. Fairways and greens are usually in good shape, and you can tell the staff takes pride in upkeep.
BUT IT IS WAY TOO CROWDED.
I live here and play this course all the time, and there has not been a single round where I haven’t had to wait on a group. The pace of play is consistently slow, and it honestly takes away from what could be a great experience. There have even been times where I’ve been told to go after a foursome, so I wait like I’m supposed to—then somehow a random one- or two-person group jumps in and goes ahead, even though they weren’t on the schedule according to the pro shop. That kind of disorganization makes it really frustrating.
The scheduling, the wait times, and the constant backups on the course are just awful right now. Something has to change. At a minimum, they need to space tee times out more—especially on busy days. Every 30 minutes would go a long way toward fixing the pace of play issues.
Honestly, I think they should seriously consider making this a private course and directing public play over to the Pearl course instead. As someone who plays here regularly, it’s gotten to the point where the overcrowding is the main thing people talk about, and it’s hurting the overall experience.
There’s a really good course here—it’s just buried under poor scheduling and way too much traffic.
Avoid
Really bad shape. Temp greens are the worst I've seen. Staff was unkind in saying that no part of our payment could be refunded. Give them a year and see if they have fixed greens and chosen respect and kindness.
Sad state of affairs.
Course unfriendly and staff even worse. Temp greens are in horrible shape. Totally unputtable. Clumps of grass all over the greens. Anthills on the greens and in play. I am a 10 hdcp and have played good temp green before where they were cared for and the golfer was helped by the proshop staff. Not here, sadly. Avoid for a year and see if they have made any progress.
Horrible
Temporary greens in hideous shape. Totally unputtable. Not a golf course at current. Took our 28 bucks (great for such a nice course normally) but when we realized how horrible a shape the temp greens were in, we came back to the clubhouse only to be greeted by belligerence from the man behind the register. After playing at nearly 100 courses in my life and being around a 10 hdcp, I have never been embarrassed for a course like this. He told us 1) we shouldn't have booked online 2) everyone loves the temp greens 3) he couldn't help us in any way 4) best he could do is to give us a few range balls 5) "we are the nicest course in jackson"; among other things.so we paid 55 dollars for 30 minutes of finding out how bad the temp greens are. I would say avoid totally until they fix their issues.
Temporary review
Temporary greens make the course unplayable. Great course except you can’t putt and every hole is 80-100 yards short. Looking forward to coming back when the course is fixed.
Good Course
i have played here many times and love this course. there where a couple greens in disrepair but the good folks at Patrick Farms made sure the pins where on the good side of the green. a couple fairways where in rough shape but here are clear signs the course had been flooded so i am not blaming the course for this. even with all that this course is in great shape, i highly recommend it and will play this course any time i am in the Jackson area
Good But Could Be Better
The course has fallen off in the conditions of late. Hopefully it will get better with a new staff. The pace of play is usually slow and there is no marshal. Course is a tough walk with lots of walking between holes.
Temp greens for a while now. They are horrible and the course has made no effort to help the golfer out. No new distances, no layout map, no help from the pro or his assistants. Sadly, it seems this issue won't be fixed anytime soon.
Mystic Creek Experience Stay & Play Package
I wouldn't play now, they are on temp greens and they are in hideous shape.
