If you can’t maintain it, don’t own it
I know it’s tough to maintain a golf course, especially in these high temperatures, but there’s no excuse for not cutting the grass regularly. I get that it’s tough to have the greens not burn up and the fairways watered. But there’s no excuse to not cut the grass regularly. I’m playing on a Saturday, the busiest day for golf, and the fairways looked like they hadn’t been cut since Monday. Also, the rough should be kept way shorter. I understand that it’s rough and that it’s supposed to be a penalty to get in it, but it shouldn’t be so high that it’s impossible to find your ball. We’re not pros. There aren’t spotters out there to help us. And when you hit a shot slightly off-line, you see where it goes, and yet that ball drops down in 2 to 3 inch Bermuda it’s gone. You’re not going to find it unless you get lucky. Keep the rough under an inch high so that you can see the tops of balls and keep the fairways and greens cut to a proper length all the time. That’s the bare minimum for maintaining a course. If you can’t do that, then don’t own it because asking people to pay $60, when the course is hard enough to begin with, you shouldn’t have to fight against the course conditions-on top of it.
Nice golf course
I really like the way the course is laid out. You have to hit lots of different shots in order to score well.
Disappointed in the Course condition
The course condition was not good. it is difficult to tell where the fairway ends and the rough begins. There are some tee shots on the back nine (#11) that have trees encroaching to much to create a window from the tee box.
on a positive, the staff was nice, the bar food and staff was Great. They do offer indoor simulators.
Needs TLC
The greens were bumpy and slow, and I left a lot of putts short. It’s hard to make yourself hit a putt as hard as you need to just to get it to the hole, and the short putts don’t hold their line very well.
The fairways were long and shaggy, and in some places the grass was so thick and deep you could almost lose your ball—more like PGA Tour rough than a fairway.
I didn’t have high expectations going in, but it was the only tee time I could find late in the week for a Saturday morning.
Course is what it is!!
Lots n lots of grass!! Greens are probably rated at 5.. but, fairways have seemingly been taken over by grass/weeds. Hopefully, the grass gets cut soon..you will lose many balls..even though you send it straight down the fairway! Great layout though and can be challenging. Give it a try!
Some good / some not so good
I noticed some of the fairways were uncut or had cut grass piled in it. Most bunkers had not been cared for in a while with weeds growing in them. Some greens were surrounded by crab grass. It felt as if the property had not beeen cared for in awhile. The staff was friendly at check in. The bar area was exceptionally clean and the service was good.
State of disrepair
One of my favorite tracks in town is going to seed. Greens are a little better than earlier but traps are unplayable if not 4' deep in weeks and much of the course hasn't been mowed for at least a month. Not many people around so pace is good.
X
Greens, fairways, and tee boxes in fair condition. Cart paths in horrible condition, ruins the entire experience. The rough is not well maintained with weeds, branches throughout.
Not worth it at all.
I’ve been here 4 times the last 6 months and I don’t know why I keep coming back. Everything is neglected the fairways the greens all of it. Not to mentions the “bunkers”
Don’t come here if you want to have a good time. $80 for 18 holes on a course in this condition is criminal.. worst course in Memphis
The new Crockett
This course is as bad as I have ever seen it. Crabgrass on greens, cart path potholes, dead spots everywhere. Greens are unputtable. Very sad to see. City needs to buy it.
Good golf, bad conditions
Not a terrible round of golf, but pace of play was terrible, fairways were terrible, greens…. Terrible. It was like putting on the surface of mars. Crab grass patches on the green, sand everywhere except in the bunkers.
Lakeland Golf
Had a great day on the course. Course is in Pretty good shape and played well.
Nice course for the price
Overall, the course was very nice. Staff was excellent! Greens were not in the best condition but for under $40 it was well worth the money.
Course needs work
Greens were terrible. Holes everywhere and no grass on a lot of the areas. Tee boxes need work also. Just not a good course for the money charged.

Rain has helped out. Greens still have several spots that need repair. Definitely worth the $50 to play
