Very forgiving course
Mostly straight holes with plenty of room to err left or right. Greens are in great shape given the dry, hot weather. Staff were very nice.
Disappointed in the TeeOff app not communicating the the round paid for included cart. Staff waved the cart fee right away.
Course under construction
Pace of play was poor. Ranger did absolutely nothing to assist with pace. Ground construction in the middle of the fairway on hole 7. Grass around greens was poorly cut/maintained. Severely overpriced.
Terrible tee boxes
Tee boxes all need to be leveled plus they are as thick as the rough the fairways are like usual rough and the rough is dirt. Greens were in good shape but hard and fast.
No starter to seperate groups
The starter kept in the club house. The group right behind us teed off 3 -4 minutes after we teed off. Slow play in the middle of the coarse. Coarse ranger was non-existent.
Driver friendly course.
The course was dug up in spots as the maintenance crew was working on some type of repair. Pace was fairly slow. Having a course ranger would of helped move groups along. No ranger was seen entire 4 plus hour round.
Very enjoyable round
Pace of play and course were very good. Layout is great and the people are very nice.
I Love This Place!
The course is always in perfect shape, and if you don't think the course is long enough (which I think just right) play from the blues; if you think the pace of play is slow, don't book during peak times (a lot of golfers, including me, love this place), and if you have a problem with the staff, let them know, they are more than accommodating. So, take that you golfers that complain, this course is GREAT!
Not Too Long, Not Too Difficult, Not Too Interesting
At 6,427 yards from the tips, a 70.0 rating and 115 slope, Shamrock Golf Course is not very long, not very difficult, and not very interesting. The course is set on what appears to be former farmland that is mostly flat, with sparse tree coverage and very little water. The rough is cut just above the level of the fairway, and there are very few bunkers on the course. What you have then is a wide open course where you can let 'er rip off the tee and then take dead aim at every flag. This is not necessarily bad, and is probably desirable for beginners, seniors, and high handicappers who might be put off by more difficult courses where they might not break 100 and also lose a few balls in the process. The fairways are well maintained, as are the greens. I found very few unrepaired ball marks on the greens, which rolled smooth and true. Unfortunately, they were also quite slow and I found it difficult to adjust my stroke and so kept falling short of the hole. Again, this might be desirable for some golfers. And I must admit that the course appears to be very popular as there were quite a few cars in the parking lot and many groups on the course, including the senior fivesome that was in front of us. The only truly memorable hole on the course is the first, a 533 yard (from the middle White tees) par 5 with a pond paralleling the fairway on the right side. Two good shots will leave you with an uphill short iron approach shot to a green that is smaller than you might expect for a par 5 green. The hole is really pretty, and it's unfortunate that there aren't more holes like this on the course. Shamrock is located in an area where there are several other courses with similar greens fees, as well as some more upscale courses. As a result, longer hitters and low handicappers will probably find that these other courses may be more suitable to their game.
long, fun, easy to walk
You are not going to just drive greens. Aesthetically nothing worth bragging about but if you are looking for just a decent course you can get around in good time and have to hit all your clubs this works.
Sneaky long as well as a few just long holes. everything in good shape for May in Minnesota.
Pretty wide open fairways. Can't get into too much trouble.
Played with my 17 year old son who just started playing last year and we had fun. Will definitely play again.
