challenging for most golfers
This course is a bit tight and has a lot of uneven lies and numerous blind shots. It is in very good condition considering the weather they have had this summer. It isn't particularly long, but the tight fairways and lengths which require course management to avoid shots running off the fairways both to the side and at water crossings, and uphill shots into reasonably well guarded greens present plenty of challenges to all but the best of golfers. It is a darn good course - and a very good value. We played yesterday in the drizzle and rain, and had a lot of challenge from wet fairways, but today was sunny (although still wet) and that made the round much more enjoyable.
Rain or shine
Started out in fog and drizzle and progressed to full rain. Kept slogging - Cart paths only. Course had recently been aerated, but was otherwise in good shape It takes a certain mentality to play in these conditions - but the upside was emptiness of the course
Disappointed
First 9 was great, but the back 9's aerated greens made the round rather disappointing. Would have liked to know that some greens were punched in advance of making the booking.
Course just ok
Often wet with thin, thin fairways. Cart paths are horrible and jarring to ride on. Craters and speed bumps are kind description thereof. Course lives only on long ago reputation and old, old reviews.
Fantastic mountain golf and great value.
Tremendous layout. Very challenging. Great conditions. Very friendly staff.
Highly recommended
Living on past glory
on a positive, the greens were in good shape, the fairways average plus. The golf cart path repair has not been address in 25 years. It is virtually impossible to ride on the golf cart path without huge bumps and jars. In many places it is far smoother to ride on The Fairway than on the gulf path.
because this is a very mountainous course, many of the holes are really gimmicky
Because this is a
Great mountain golf .
The course is beautiful and a great value. Very challenging and unique hole. This is the closest things to Colorado’s mountain golf as you can get!
Fun track
greens were carpets. the rough was tough! tremendous layout/design. cart paths are in bad shape. carts were so-so.
We have been coming for 3 years, and it's in the best shape we have seen.
Everything is great at Stratton all 3 nines are nice, although Forest is my favorite. Not the hardest course you have ever played, but it is still a great course. There is nothing that can improve about the course, it is in spectacular shape.
Golfnow price is a great value
Three 9 hole courses to pick from. Lake is fairly easy. Forest is more challenging with a lot of blind tee and second shots. Mountain is comparable to Forest and a little hillier with one hole of 620 yards!. Course was a little soggy after days of rain but the general condition was very good. Friendly staff who made you feel welcome. Be sure to use Golnow to book tee times as otherwise the green fees are fairly steep. The people we met up with on the course had paid over twice our Golfnow price! Pace of play was rather slow and no rangers were in evidence to monitor this. All in all, a very good experience.
Great as usual
Pure Vermont golf.
Awesome course, in an awesome environment. Staff could not be better. So friendly and accommodating. We try to play at least twice a summer while on vacation. Worth every penny.
Thank you
Stratton Golf, VT a great time
The staff always friendly & the Stratton VT golf course in great shape.
Great time!
Terrific experience! Course was very wet after extreme rains this past week. Forrest layout very challenging relative to the Lake side.
Great mid-summer conditions
Tee, fairways & greens in excellent shape. Greens well maintained but somewhat slow.
Great conditons
Loved this course. Played the Forest and Lake courses with the Forest being the more difficult of the two. Target golf at it's best. Some bunkers under repair but that is what keeping a course in shape entails. Will be back to try Mountain course.
