Couples League is the best you will find in this area
If you are looking for a fun date night with a significant other or a night out with a friend this league will not disappoint. Very fun atmosphere/people and a beautiful course make this a win win night/day out.
I did not give the course 5 stars on everything but, I believe that will happen. This course just keeps getting better and better.
Keeps Going Downhill
In it's hayday, this was a fantastic course.... The good thing I can say is the course was in better shape in 2019 than it was in 2017 and 2018 AND they have some of the nicest golf carts around with the Greg Norman Shark Experience on them.... The bad news is that it's in very poor condition and I probably wouldnt ever go back. Im very glad I did not purchase a home on the course back when it was great and have to watch the downgrade out my back window... I know this course has had a lot of financial struggles & I hope they pull out of it because Republic really does need a nice local course!
Improvements badly needed
I have played here since it was a 9-hole facility called Tri-way country club. In its heyday, Island Green was one of the premier courses in the area to play. Great layout, very fast undulating greens, and always very challenging. I know there are new owners who are going to invest a lot of money in improvements. From what I've read though, doesn't sound like much will be done to the actual course, and that's unfortunate. Played there this afternoon and the overall condition of the course was just sad. Non-existent, hard as a rock tee boxes, burned up fairways and greens that were in terrible shape (huge areas of basically just dirt where there should be grass). Seriously, instead of focusing on building houses out there, drop some money into the course. If you build it, they will come. If you need a comparison, check out nearby Indian Tree. They've made tremendous improvements in their course, especially their greens.
I’ve played Island Green a few times over the last year and this course is improving daily. New management took a struggling golf course and sky rocketed. I remember sand traps that were basically all grass, torn up tee boxes and fairways, and greens that had seen better days. All of those are getting better as the days go on. This course has one of the best, if not the best, layouts in the area. Very challenging, sloping golf course. I can’t wait to go back!
Good layout, needs upkeep
This course has an awesome layout, very hilly leaving some challenging lies for approach shots. Grass is growing rapidly in the sand traps, the greens are slow, and the tee boxes are thinned out. Good course for the money. If the course was well groomed, it would be one of the top courses in the area.
