Surprisingly good
Traveled from the east coast to the Albuquerque
Balloon Fiesta and had a chance to sneak in a round. We stayed in Sante Fe and very few courses to choose from. Decided on MS and the layout, conditions and value was a great surprise. Tee's fairways and greens all in good to very good condition. Plenty of tee boxes choices.
Nice course, nice people
Arrived early for my round. Checked out the facilities. The pro shop was well stocked. If you forgot something at home, they have it for sale there. The two staff working to check in golfers were courteous and professional. Went to the range and hit a bucket of balls, which is something I never do. I am a car to tee guy. The practice putting area was huge and undulating. A real taste of what you will get on the course. I had a dog at the snack bar, unimpressed. Then still had 45 min to tee time. I asked the pro shop if they could get me out earlier, which they did.
The playing conditions are very good, especially for a muni. The tee boxes were very good. The fairways are green, cut and a bit soft. The greens are green and lots of break. The only downside is the rough and it was rough. At least 4 inch long and very thick. They also were wet so it was not fun hitting out of them. The rough was too hard for a muni. Best plan is hit in the fairway. I can’t say anything about the bunkers or water, I didn’t hit into them.
All in all, the course is a very nice course, with nice people and not expensive
Great course, great price!
We played for 39.99 each booking on golfnow. It was quick check in, played fast and two of us got to play alone. The course was in beautiful condition. A huge bucket of practice balls was $11. I will definitely go back.
Course grade
The course was a little dry and rough, but I like that every hole you went to you can see the flag that You’re trying to get to so it was a nice course though overall
Greens need help
The course is short of water and it shows on the greens.
Marty Sanchez
The course was nice waiting on the greens and tee boxes to come in but the layout is great and the staff very helpful had a great time
Stay Away Until Conditions Improve
I have never, and I seriously mean NEVER, golfed a course in such terrible shape, and I'm a muni guy. I do not exaggerate, and the member I golfed with said the same. If you took some semi-arid grazing land, and mowed it like a golf course, this is what you'd get. The greens were equal bald and grass, as were the fairways. The rough was stunningly inconsistent, with thick and deep grass in spots, and dirt in others. The basic rule? If you can find a bit of grass near your ball, put it on the grass and swing. The sad thing is that this could be a magnificent course. The layout is nice. The views are nice. The clubhouse is fine.
What happened to this course?
I don't live in the area, but have played here many times over the years (the last time had been two years ago). The course was usually in quite good shape. Currently, I feel the course is basically unplayable, unless all you want is to hit a golf ball in a field. Everything from tee boxes, to fairways, to bunkers (I lost a ball in the grass growing in one bunker), and greens were in poor condition. Greens were unputtable, fairways lacked grass in many areas, and many bunkers had grass growing in them....and the course is still charging full price ( thank goodness I got a good "hot deal" from Golf Now). Please bring Marty Sanchez back to the very good course it had been.
Lack of water
The course was in bad shape. Not worth playing until course is back to normal conditions. I would love to return when conditions improve because of the nice layout.
Trending downward
Played 6/2/2025. Nice lady in pro shop said greens were bumpy from recent top dressing, not exactly true. Greens were close to being lost, clumpy and bumpy, not caused by top dressing, but from lack of maintenance.
Attempted to ask maintenance worker on course why the greens were so bad and he was rude. Troon golf now manages the course and it has gone downhill.
Needs rain!
The course was in much better condition last year. Everything (tee boxes, fairways and greens) are in poor condition due solely to the lack of rain.
Nice layout
It was early in season so course conditions were fair. I would love to play it during the summer. Two good guys to golf with as I was traveling back to Az
Nice round of golf
It was a great day on the links, although the course is kind of dormant and very windy it was a fun day of golf with a very friendly pro shop. I will be back. Thank you.
Marty Scanchez Links de Santa Fe
I’ve played this course many times and their course conditions, up until now (previous years) has always been one the best for a public course anywhere between Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
This was my first time this year to play a round there and I was really shocked at how bad All of the Tee Boxes and Greens conditions were in! Horrible!!
The tee boxes are all torn up and greens are all brown and appear to be dead - not just dormant. And Every Green on all 18 holes were this way and looked like the 9 hole executive course was in similar condition.
I won’t go back for at least 3 or 4 weeks and will definitely call ahead to inquire about the Greens condition.
