Golf Advisor: Top Courses in New Mexico (2024 #5)
Reviews
Great value, fun course
Played in the late winter and during a severe drought, so the course was quite brown but still well maintained and beautiful. A great value for the cost. Staff was great.
Great for February golf
This was my first time at the course, and it was overall a good experience. The holes are pretty straight forward with no tricky layouts. The tee boxes are laid out well with definite differences between each set of tees. Since this was in the middle of winter, the fairways and greens were totally dormant. As a result, my drives went much further than usual, and the greens were very had and fast. Would love to see what it is like in the summer, and I do recommend this course.
Easy peesy!
This course was interesting. The layout is great and not confusing to those who go for the first time. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The Marshall keeps everyone on track to stay within play. It is a "ready golf" play. If you are ready, it's golf time. I have been more than once now and it's a great time, fun getaway close to home. Awesome course.
One of the best public courses in New Mexico
This course is, in my opinion, one of the best kept public courses in New Mexico and definitely the best public courses between Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
It’s obvious upon arrival at the course that they definitely concentrate a majority of their efforts in upkeep and daily maintenance on the courses both the 9 hole 3 par and the championship 18 hole courses. They are both somewhat challenging for the average amateur player yet quite pleasing and enjoyable to play.
If you’re in the area and have have the opportunity to play a round, you will be glad you did!
Desert Oasis
I found the course to be both challenging and fair. Greens and Fairways were in good shape.
Very good course conditions.
After being in New Mexico now for four years I have found that most of the local public, city run courses around and in the Albuquerque area are generally not in very good conditions at any given time of the year.
Most of the best courses for consistently good conditions (tee boxes, fairways and greens) are at the casino courses.
The Marty Sanchez public courses (9 Hole and 18 hole) are consistently kept in very good to excellent shape. And the greens fees are better than reasonable.
I highly recommend this course to anyone living or traveling through the Southwest area of Santa Fe NM.
Santa Fe golf
Fun course with nice large greens. Enough challenges to make it worth playing. Lots of people walking the course which is good but made playing a little slower
Nice Santa Fe NM Public Course
The Marty Sanchez Links golf course is one of the nicest reasonably priced 18 hole championship & 9 hole executive courses in New Mexico.
Courses are in very well kept condition.
A Pleasant Surprise
A friend had recommended this course when I traveled to Santa Fe. It had rained a ton the night before I played, and I thought the course would be soaked. While there was some standing water in the areas of the cart paths, the course was in excellent condition. The layout and vistas were well worth the trip, and the cost is very reasonable. Also, if you are hungry, try the bratwurst. It was amazing!!
Great Experience
Staff was nice and friendly and didn't make a deal about me being a single with other singles behind.
Greens were superb...nice and tight. Smooth. Some discoloration on a couple but nothing affecting speed.
Fairways were nice and wide. Very fair.
Layout was fun. Balls in wilderness were easy to find. No balls lost.
Water stations were nice.
Pretty solid municipal course
Some munis are better than others, but Marty Sanchez is a great choice for Santa Fe. The area doesn’t have many options for public play so this is the go to for a nice round with friendly people. If you can drive farther then the casinos and some higher end courses are available but its hard to beat this place for value.
