Great scenery! Nice layout! Fun course!

Fun course with challenging holes. There are deer everywhere and mountains in the background. The greens and fairways were in great shape. Cart paths are mostly gravel but fine. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. It was a little rough around the edges but well worth the money. We would play it again!

Fun as always

The Hideout GC is a favorite that I only play occasionally because of the distance from Salt Lake City; the course has experienced some drought effect, but overall the course was in adequate playing shape; the staff was very friendly and helpful, and I was allowed to start on the back nine because the course was busy which was great until I rounded for the back (front) nine which was slow; however, since I played the first nine quickly, the entire round only took just over four hours; I am hopeful to get back and play the course again

5 Star Review If Course was in Better Condition

This would be a five star review except for the condition of the course, particularly the greens (lots of dead or dying areas ) and tee boxes. All else was great. Even with the poor course condition, you should still play this unusual layout. Most of the hole here would, on their own, be the most difficult hole on your home coursed.

Strategic with great views

If you are a long hitter, I’m not sure you will like this. You won’t use your driver very much. Some of the greens are a little rough. Scenery is incredible. Everyone in the Pro shop and on the course were so nice and friendly.

Always a fun, challenge

The Hideout GC is a favorite course that I wish I lived closer to because I would definitely play it more often; every hole is unique and has its own challenge; the diversity in the layout adds to the challenge, but it forces you to make strategic decisions on each hole; it isn’t a ‘grip it and rip it’ course which adds to its unique challenge and is what brings me back; the staff is friendly and accommodating every time I come throughout the years; the only issue with this round was the conditions which were still quite good despite serious rainfall that had occurred almost the entire week prior to my visit; there was evidence of heavy water flow and debris, so they were recovering from that, but the course was still in quite good condition; Mother Nature did not affect my play, and I would go back immediately if it were closer.

Hidden gem

We drove 4.5 hours from Salt Lake City in order to play this course because it is an excellent course that provides challenging holes with varying layouts across the mountain terrain with beautiful views on a very well kept course; we booked two rounds for the day which made it a full day of golf with lunch between rounds, but it is something we have done for about four years now; the drive is worth every penny; the course is in excellent shape, the course pro and staff are friendly, courteous, and accommodating, the course is beautiful but challenging, the pace of play was superb; this will continue to be a destination golf course for me.

Great Vacation Golf

If you find yourself anywhere in the Monticello, Utah area, the Hideout Golf Course is a must play. This is one of the most scenic courses in Utah. This course has a lot of elevation changes and some of the holes are bit of a walk, so it is best to take one of their new gas carts. The fairways and greens were in top notch condition when we played here at the end of July. This course has some unique hole designs, and no two holes play the same. There is a lot of local knowledge required to shoot well heee. With that being said, if you play the correct tees for your game and drive the ball straight you should score well. And even if you don’t, you will still enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife.

"A Real Gem"

This was the way it was described by someone from Grand Junction, Colorado who had played here. He was not far off the mark at all. It's hard to believe a course of this caliber exist in a small town in remote Utah. The course is owned and run by the town of Monticello and they do a wonderful job keeping it up. I'm sure this is in part because it doesn't get a lot of play because of its location. The greens were about as pristine as you'll find and rolled as true as any you'll play. Almost felt guilty putting divots in them. Fairways and tee boxes were also in excellent condition. The course is surrounded by moderate to dense stands of Gamble Oak and Cottonwood. When you leave the first tee, you immediately feel as if you're taking a stroll through the forest and you won't have much contact with other groups playing on the course. This is not the most difficult course you'll ever play and you might feel pretty good about your game for the most part. However, there are a few holes that will test your shot making skills.

For $42, this is without a doubt one of the best values you will find in a golf course. If in the area, is well worth the play.

Nice course

Good golf course. Is a bit short but that is OK because it is somewhat tight. Definitely worth playing if in the area. Fairways are OK and the greens were good.

this really is a secret hideout

if you are passing through monticello on your way to the amazing national parks as i was ,then a stopoff here is a must.on a golf trip back in 2010 i had played all the usual golf places in vegas and st george and thought i might as well get 9 holes in passing through monticello.as it turns out it was my most memorable 9 holes of my golf trip.the only regret is i didnt have time to get in a full 18.i think i payed like $20 and i was met with amazing wildlife with deer and rabbits everywhere.its a cool experience to have a deer stand on the tee box with you while you tee off.the course is very interesting with alot of elevation changes.after all the desert layouts eleswhere it was a nice change to have greenery all over the place.anywhere else in the world this would be a wildlife park. i cant believe they dont charge more.
