Fabulous
We loved this course. It was one of my all time favorites. Fun layout. Beautiful scenery. Friendly staff. You name it. Everything was fabulous. A real hidden gem. I just wish we didn't live so far away.
Hidden Gem, kind of.....
Played here for the first time 5-6 years ago and loved it. Would never have expected a course of this caliber in a small town in remote Utah. Unfortunately, the second time around was not quite as good. Still love the layout, scenery, and ambiance of the track, and golfing on a Sunday morning, pretty much had it to myself. But the conditions were not as good. Many tee boxes were beat up and some of the greens had issues. Fairways overall were in pretty good condition. Spoke to the person in the clubhouse and he mentioned the harsh winter they had and not really having a spring to condition the course for summer. I gave the track a 4. Given the price, think it's still well worth the play if in the area, and hope that the conditions are better come next spring.
A Real Hidden Gem
This was a great day on this golf course. Not a lot of players so pace was excellent on this hot day. Lots of different types of holes requiring some shot making. Really enjoyed figuring out how to play the holes. Very scenic course with some awesome views. Greens were quick and required concentration, depending on where you were on the huge greens. Fairways were good and playing the ball down was not a problem. They were working on the tee boxes when we played, so the tees were not in the best of shape, but will be when renovation is done. Loved this course and will play it again if in the area. Clubhouse folks were great as was the pro...loved chatting with them.
Poor Condition, Poorly Managed
Started at 7:45AM. #1 tee boxes were ragged and only one was in use. (Found this to be true of all 4 holes we played. #1 green was being watered so we couldn't play it. #3 green was being watered so we couldn't play it, and there were many bare areas. (All 4 holes we played had been aerated. Appeared to have been done some time ago and the greens had not yet recovered. Very bumpy, of course.) #4 fairway was overrun with dandelions. (Did they run out of weed control?) #5 tee box (again, the only one in use) was being watered so we couldn't tee off. At this point, we had had enough. We returned to the pro shop and obtained a full refund. On our way to pro shop we passed #5 thru #9 holes and at least 2 of these greens were being watered. By now it was about 9AM. (Why don't they water over night or in the early morning?)
The pro shop attendant had nothing to say regarding our experience - no explanation, no excuses, no apology. Apparently he was not surprised by the situation we encountered.
It's the gem of utah
I love that course.........
Fun round despite recent water issues
The Hideout GC is a course I can’t skip when traveling through the area, and despite the recent weather/water issues caused by a severe winter, I enjoyed my quick round; the course had some adverse affects caused by the long, hard winter and recent water (flooding/raging) situations, so the course was not in the excellent shape that is the standard; the staff has always been very friendly and accommodating which makes the experience even better; I look forward to returning again.
Mountain golf
Fun layout. Women friendly. Great value. If you like elevation changes you will love this course!
Stop over
On a road trip stop over this course was perfect! The layout was short tight and full of variety. Course. was in fine condition. Yes the t-boxes could be better as could the greens. The staff could not be friendlier. Could use a cafe or ???
Ghost tree
Awesome mountain course in southern utah with a varied and quirky layout. I loved this course, it’s short but interesting with a beautiful backdrop of the abajo mountains. And there’s a beautiful ghost tree on the 16th approach. Definitely worth visiting if your close by.
Great round
The Hideout GC is a favorite course that I thoroughly enjoy and play as often as possible whenever traveling through the area; always a wonderful experience.
Great round despite recent weather issues
The Hideout GC is a hidden treasure that provides suspense and beauty every round; it is a course I enjoy playing despite having never mastered it; the challenge and course layout brings me back each year despite its great distance from Salt Lake City.
The course had had recent weather issues that have affected it in varied ways, but it was still an awesome round and fun experience; there was evidence of drought conditions that affected the tee boxes, fairways, and greens as well as what appeared to be some debris and washed out areas, but they have done a fine job making the course playable and pleasant to play; I will hopefully have a return round on my way back through the area.
I recommend this course to those who truly enjoy the game of golf and the beauty that golf courses have to offer; one new experience I had seeing numerous (approx. 15) vultures flying overhead which may have been a sign that my game was dying — had to share some humor.
Love the course but conditions are poor at this time
Played this course last year, which was in great shape. Unfortunately this time the course is not in good shape. At check in the gentleman stated they had a hard winter and course was not up to the standard they would like. They are working on improving the course. Greens not in good shape, some slow and soft. Thick grass on the fairway sides. Everyone was very friendly. Hoping the conditions will change.
Poor condition but coming back play it!
Great views, fun to play. Has had some hard times but coming back. IRRIGATION PROBLEMS but still worth playing.
