Fairways of Woodside Golf Course

About
Fairways of Woodside Golf Club is located just outside of Sussex, sprawling across the beautiful countryside of southeastern Wisconsin. The course is seemingly flat but there are a few subtle but challenging contours, overall a walkable course though. Water comes into play on 11 holes and nearly all of the greens have a bunker lurking nearby. One of the most memorable water holes is the par-3 12th where golfers will have to carry a large lake that juts in front of the green. The monstrous 15th hole is another tough one. This par 5 is a double dogleg where even the best golfers have a hard time making it to the green in two. It is a challenging golf course but most of the hole are straightforward and not overly punishing if you're errant.

Fix your greens
Nice layout. The clover and weeds are a real problem. Biggest complaint is the tee boxes and greens. Need to be aerated really bad. The greens for sure. A few greens are diseased. The fairways were very nice but there were some weeds starting pop up there too. Food was really good and service was friendly. Won't go back until they spend some money on the course.
Great course
Wide open course but it also has very challenging holes, especially on the back nine. There is a great mix of holes that have wide/narrow fairways, bunkers and wetlands/water, etc. I played the last week of October lol but we had great weather. The pin placement was tough and the greens were fast which made for some challenging putts. I shot a 93 the first time I played this course back in September and improved to an 83 this time! Knowing the course definitely helped my shot selection. The back 9 is a lot harder to play with a tough 4 hole stretch. This course will definitely be in my rotation next season!
Great place for fall golf!
Quite a mix of holes, from easy par fours (under 3 bills), to double dog-leg 500+ yd par 5. 13,14 &15 may be the 3 toughest consecutive holes in SE Wis. Course is in great fall shape. Greens appear to have already been aerated and are well healed, perhaps a little on the slow side compared to summer conditions. Leaves are only a minor issue and they were attending to them while we were there. Course was basically empty. Quite a shame with the GolfNow deals and beautiful fall weather. Hope to play there once more before the season comes to a screeching halt.
Excellent September Condition
Course was beautiful and very mature. I last golfed here about 7 years ago just after the course opened. Fairways and greens were in pristine condition.
Challenge
Relatively easy front with a tough back nine. Good condition with challenging greens
great couse but expensive unless you play on discount
First time playing and paired up with a couple who play this frequently so made it enjoyable. As the starter said, front 9 'easy' but back 9 tough. All holes have some challenge, and the greens are undulating but roll well.
interesting par 5 'Z' where you are always going to play 3 to get to the green as it is geometrically difficult (unless you are Bubba) to ever think of hitting it in on in 2! Water and out of bounds in play on several holes. Needs finesse than distance.
Worst part was their bunkers- sand was all packed and not fluffy- and that was in the absence of any significant rain!
Challenging back nine
You need to score well on the shorter, easier front nine because the back nine is more challenging - more carry required and tighter fairways due to trees/ water. Golf Now deal made the ride to Sussex worth it.
Great value on Golf Now for play
Nice course, everything was very good except the condition of the greens. They were little disappointing. Still not easy for seniors on the couple of holes with a forced carry on the back nine. Not for your beginning golfer.
Nice round of golf
Very playable front nine followed by a very challenging back nine. Excellent shots are needed on the back nine, which was tough but beautiful. The overall condition was good, with the fairways in nice shape, somewhat bumpy greens and some bare spots on tees. Special thanks to Ben in the pro shop. After another single did not show up for our tee time, Ben was kind enough to set me up to play with a twosome a few minutes later. Since it. Was my first time playing the course, it was helpful playing with these two members, who advised me on aiming points for my drives and other course suggestions.
Pace of Play killed what could have been a Great day of Golf!
We are visiting from out of Town but have played in the past on this course. This has been a nice enjoyable course in the past. The course was extremely wet and individuals were not repairing their ball marks on the Greens, they we replaying from the Tips when they needed to be playing from other Tees because they were not qualified to be playing off the Tips. The pace of play was horrible, despite the fact they had a couple Rangers who appeared to be going around but not doing much about speeding up the play. Guys were gambling and drinking with a scramble ahead of us and goofing off. It was extremely hot and humid on the 16th hole we decided rather than play the last 2 holes in 3/4 more hrs. We quit!
We will not return back but find another area course to play when we are in the area.
Neat layout
Really enjoy the diverse front versus back nine. The double dog leg on the back is very unique. Great layout!
Nice Course
Very nice condition, very playable for the average golfer. Good time had by all and would recommend it to everyone.
Very good shape
Course was in great shape, beautiful day, and lots of challenges. Back nine is considerably more difficult and many holes require very straight drives. Excellent HOT VALUE deal found the morning of play.
Fun fun
This is what u expect when u want a great day of golf . U might see some scuba guys divin around after ur balls . With all the water spots . Long bk 9 , deffently use every club . I come here all the time and just love this place .
great course
The course was in great condition....even though there was a lot of grass clippings on the fairway. We did not see the beverage cart all morning...but no big deal.
Short front nine, normal back nine.
The front nine was a little short from the white tees,
so we played the blacks, and played the whites on the back. The course was in very good condition.
Fairways were in great shape, as were the greens.
The front nine was quite a bit easier then the back.
The back nine had some very interesting par fives,
with wetlands coming in play on some holes. Very nice. The par'3 were a little long for novices.
Had a great time, will be back.
Great course
Challenging golf course that is well maintained. Very good course for the amount paid to play.
Nice, simple course
Very well kept. Very nice course and facilities. Course is simple and seasoned players may not be challenged. Most holes around 300 yds from white tee.
course continues to slide
I used to play this course 4-5 times a year. I told myself last year after playing it and finding poor conditions I would stay away. Well went back due to a great Hot Deal and found that again the conditions of the course continue to slide. The back 9 tee boxes and greens are a joke. So many bumps and ball marks on the greens. Rough was bare in a lot of areas, around the greens. The front nine the greens at best would be avg.. 4-5 years ago the course condition where awesome. Always liked the easy front nine and it got your hopes up for a great score until the back nine tossed a couple of 8's on the score card. Will not be back unless I hear of conditions of greens and tee boxes improving.
