Great Layout
About what you expect for a Montgomery County run course. Rough and fairways in great shape. The only issue was the yardage on the card didn't match the actual holes, especially on par 3's.
Good test of golf depending on what you want - you pick the tee box
I play Hampshire perhaps 2 times a month. Overall a great value, greens roll true, fairways are wide but too wide, rough punishes for miss hit. Traps are strategic as most are good for target line, but if you make a mistake you can have a long bunker shot and many are very deep. My only complain whether Hampshire or other is never should a mid week round or in reality any round take more than 4 hours. Slow Play is what keeps golf from growing. And for me if play is slow I find I lose interest and have walked off. I would recommend Hampshire Greens to any player as the tee locations give all golfers a challenge.
Disappointed
Would have been excellent, but the weather didn't cooperate!
This course is great
Good shape. Greens hard, with aretion holes on them. Overall a fair test of golfing skills. lets you use every club in the bag.
A gem
This course looked better than anyone around it for this time of year and the amoiunt of preipitation.Tee time price was 22$ this course in season is 89$ What a bargain.
It was great
Not good conditions but i enjoy. Convenient to the City
Great day
We got out early because there was no one on the course, and only two groups well ahead of us. Pace of play was great and we never had to wait on any hole. Course was in good condition from all the rain we had, the greens were in great condition. Always a great track to play for a reasonable price.
Pretty challenging, but fair. Good for any level of player.
One of the best courses in the Baltimore, Washington area, for the money. Great for any level of player.
This course play somewhat challenging
Hopefully course will be ready for season and hopefully your price will be somewhat fair
Good Course
This was all it was cracked up to be, and the conditions were not that great, wet and super windy. Course still held its own against anything in MD. Beautiful during summer Im sure. Many elevation changes, few blind shots into Green. Broke 100 first time out and 30+mph winds.
green are fast and true right now, pace is always slow
Always enjoy the layout and have played here many times over the years. But we stopped playimg here because it was too slow. We got a discounted time and indeed still horribly slow. I wish they would put a starter on 10, and try to make people keep up. Will only play here off season.
Class of area public courses
I've played most of the DC/MD public courses and find this to be the class of them all. Layout, maintenance and overall experience is excellent when compared to other public course experiences and comparable with many private course experiences. Starter and course marshal were friendly and helpful and attentive to pace of play. Range balls were complimentary. Overall great +++++
Challenging and in great condition
Always love to play this course, but the green fee keeps going up.
Very well maintained and challenging course, this course has a range of holes to test every shot from every club in your bag.
Very challenging course that has above average yardage and will provide a test of all clubs found in a golfer's bag from tee shots to putting. The course is very well maintained, fresh sand in the bunkers, fast greens and lush fairways make this course a pleasure to play.
this course has bad service, bad tee time, slow place to play golf ever
We paid 18 hole around 3:30 on sep., and only had time to play 9 hole, because sooooooo slow.. it took 3 and 1/4 hour to play 9 hole for 3 of us.. it was nightmare.
Will Play Again
This course was a great MC course. Challenging holes. You definitely want to get the cart. Hole are spaced out. This was my first time playing and I had a great time. Fairways were in great condition. The greens a little bumpy due to them just being aerated. Overall is a great and challenging course to play.
Best MCG course
Hampshire Greens is the top course operated by Montgomery County Golf. It has a challenging layout that requires a variety of shots to be played. The conditions could always be a tad better, and they need more consistent bunkers, but it's always a treat to play this course. And it's usually not as crowded as some of the other courses in Montgomery County. Walking is not an option, as the holes are far too spread out.
Challenging but fun round at a very good price.
The course was in very good condition, and was a challenging test for the day. At a $30 rate for 18 including cart on a weekend day it was a great value. The Saturday afternoon round was about 4.5 hours, which is not bad for this area. The very long distance between many holes makes this a course that is almost a must ride.
Fantastic municipal course
For a municipal course, this place greatly exceeded my expectations. The facility itself is somewhat small but it's clean and does the job. Service was friendly and easy-going.
Driving range: OK. Mats were used in the stalls. Not much to look at.
Putting green: Great. "Whoa!" was my first reaction; this was a good first impression. Slick greens, rolled true to the course.
Tee boxes: Good. Basic but well groomed and maintained.
Fairways: Great. Generous width and well maintained.
Rough: Tough. Very lush. I lost several balls because it was so thick and the balls just buried themselves.
Greens: Great. Tough, undulating greens but very well groomed.
Sand: OK. Easy to escape but some bunkers had nests of wasps in them.
Carts: Great. Electrically powered. Rain covers would have been nice but the day was sunny so no big deal.
Some of the rides between the green to the next hole were REALLY LONG, say 1-2 minutes at full speed. I definitely recommend getting a cart.
