Fun course in great condition
First time playing here. A bit pricey, but all courses are pricey now (especially early on a Saturday). Absolutely loved it. As an 18 handicap I appreciate a lot of upscale courses but they are not as fun as they are way too challenging. Blue Mash was very playable from the white tees but the course was in great shape and has a great design.
Regarding Tee time booking
I booked Blue Mash Golf Course through GolfNow.com for $89 per person on September 1 at 9:10 AM. However, when I arrived at the Blue Mash clubhouse, I was charged $139 due to Labor Day pricing. I ended up paying $50 more per person than what I reserved through GolfNow.com. Can this be resolved through GolfNow?
Inconsiderate
I've been to Blue Mash before and really enjoyed it. A few of us went here around 7:30 am on a Tuesday in August and the grounds crew / keeper were super inconsiderate. We played about 4 - 5 holes in the sprinklers, three of them after I called to let them know. They also had those high speed blowers and mowers running right next to us while we were on the fairways and greens a almost every hole with no regards to us playing. Then, I left at least 3 -4 new balls behind because I didn't feel like getting wet with sprinkler water that stunk like fertilizer. I don't normally mind extra noise and distractions but this was a bit over the top. The staff inside was great and one of the other staff members kind and gave me three $10 coupons and a couple ball markers which I appreciated. I later got to thinking it wasn't really fair compensation considering the overall conditions during our quick 2 hour and 45 minute round.
Great course conditions!
Blue Mash was in fantastic condition. Worth the price, especially if you take advantage of GolfNow discounts. Crucially, they also have a grass driving range. Amazing for warm ups. The course was challenging, but not in a way that was frustrating. The staff was very friendly and their facilities are in great condition.
Great course
So many Virginia courses are burned out by a brutal summer, but Blue Mash is great!
Could have been fun
It's a nice course but expensive. For what you pay you should get top notch service and that didn't happen. Cart people looked at their phones or walked away. No one outside to tell you where to go. Greens were great and fairways were good. The problem is they put sand traps right in the middle of fairways so that no matter what tee you hit from if you hit a good drive you end up in a trap. That kind of layout doesn't make a good course. It makes it a no fun course so why play it.
Challenging course. Fine conditions.
Played last year, but course was dry and in rough shape. Not this year, it’s in fine shape. Very challenging but fair course. Greens roll true and not too fat like some public Montgomery County courses. Staff was friendly. Good practice areas and range. Carts are electric with GPS tablets - very helpful. Without a promotion, the cost is about double nearby courses, so plan accordingly. I’ll be back.
Good layout, great grass, good pace
One of the top munis I have ever played and on par with most private courses. Tee boxes, fairways, bunker sand, greens all in great shape. Huge rain the night before so I can attest that it drains well. Moved to the top of my preferred DMV rotation.
Soggy but Great round
I have not played BM in a while, the course is in really good shape, even after several inches of rain. As always, people need to fix their divots - there is not a robot that does this
