The Sanctuary is a must play if you are in the area
We played 3 courses in the area over the weekend and this one was the favorite so much we played all day. The fall rate is 38.00 and the replay rate 18.00 at this Brian Huntley design.
The friendly staff made our visit enjoyable. For this time of year the greens rolled very nicely because the aeration was done in August.
There are 5 sets of tees to choose from and if you want to play it long the back 9 is 3680 yards with the last two holes being 466 and 454 yard par 4's.
There is a hole by hole tip sheet on the website that came in handy, and like the website says you will use every club in the bag here.
TEE BOX JAMMED
Course is in Fantastic shape! Staff Wonderful. But why does management jam tee times so close together just to get a buck? Play through the week while everyone is at work. Play there on weekends if ur in an Outing. Management needs to length time between Tee boxes starts!
Nice course
This is a very nice course with a challenging layout. The greens were too soft with a lot of footprints and some areas of the course were wet. Not sure if they over watered as we haven't had much rain. I'm sure the greens would be much more difficult had they been firm. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I'd definitely go back again.
Phenomenal Course
Absolutely beautiful, creative, fun, challenging. Would love to go back.
Excellent golf Course
Staffs are very kind and Course layout was good.
Greens and Fairways are maintained well and course was moderate and somewhat changable.
best golf course for intermediate.
Modern design, variety of holes, great condition
The Sanctuary Golf Club is another wonderful design from local golf architect, Brian Huntley (The Quarry, Shale Creek, Kennsington, Deer Ridge). Sanctuary has a great mix of par fours, long and short, difficult and easy. Five par 3s, and four par 5s. The course has great width, you can spray it off the tee without being too penalized. Great course for golfers of all abilities. I cannot wait to play here again.
Conditions were great, but some of the lower spots on the course by water were a little soupy with the recent heavy rains. I don't know if they struggle with water in the swampy areas. Greens were true, the fairways had quite a bit of roll out.
I got paired with a 3some, and played in just over 4 hours on Sunday early afternoon. Very fun course.
Very nice a must play
1st time playing and very pleased. Well kept course. Some challenging holes. Very, very beautiful setting; cozy with lots of wild plant and animal life. Staff very friendly. You must try this course!
Good Course
Good course, greens are it's best feature, little fast and roll very well. Layout is pretty straight forward, lots of tee box option. Wide open for most part. I would recommend.
Sanctuary
This course is a nice and usually fast pace of play course. If the weather is wet they often go to walk and front 9 only. The course is well maintained and provides some challenging holes with water and marsh like obstacles . Overall , I recommend this course and the only down fall is green have fungus so reading for putts are a little harder to read. Outside that very well maintained except sand bunkers , but name a course that rakes them daily.
A Friendly place to Golf
We had great weather the day I was there meet up with two Akron University students and had a great time.
First Timer
This first timer was pleased with the course it was everything that I had heard about the course. Well worth the wait and a place that I will surely return.
Great course
Played this course for the first time in October and was surprised at how nice it was then. Great weather had us playing again in February and it didn't let us down. Can't wait to play it in the summer!
A very nice course in great condition
If you want a nice challenge, play from the tips. Otherwise, there are sets of tees that will suit anyone's game. The course is in extremely good condition and well struck shots spin and hold well. The greens putt very consistently with subtle breaks. A few holes have narrow driving areas and second shots to most of the par fives have to be placed well. The last two holes are tough finishers.
This course needs to be on your list of courses to play. It's not easy, but fair. There are many risk-reward opportunities (the 3rd, 8th, 15th). The greens, though, are true and let you roll the ball. Birdies can be found, but get out of position and bogeys might follow.
Sanctuary
Great layout and in great shape. Back side 12 through 18 are very challenging holes
Great layout; Exceptional condition
Late season round finds Sanctuary in exceptional condition compared to other courses. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were beautiful. Greens were recently aerated and about half way back.
Really enjoyed the layout with most holes offering something different in terms of carry over naturalized areas or bunkers guarding pins, creeks and water hazards (all clearly marked with 'distance to water' yardages at tee box) or fairway mounding and elevation changes.
We played black tees at just under 6100 yards so the length was suitable to all in our group. You can certainly play the course from a much longer length if you choose but for our group it seemed very playable at 6100 yards.
