Not bad...
This course is a 3.5 or 3.75 out of 5.0. Nice layout, better than average. Course is in great shape.
This course in good shape
The course was in great ahape for the lack of rain this year. Greens were in good condition. The pace of play was slow as the course was very crowded. Staff is friendly and the grilled food items are a nice touch. This course is not terribly difficult and you can score well with a little course managment with your shots. There are no water coolers or beverage carts on the course.
Fantastic Course!!!
This course is on the Top 20 in NE Ohio list and rightfully so! The layout is exceptional, the course's conditions are exceptional. Like other reviews may say, there are some ball marks on the greens, but they do not take away from the speed and true roll of these excellent greens. I plan on playing this course consistently every season from now on!
Must play this course!!
Welcomed by a friendly staff and started on time. Conditions of the course are excellent. Greens are not fast but not slow either. I thought it was a tough course. I didn't play my best though. Definitely one of the best courses in the area. Next time.
Please fix your ball marks on the green.
TOUR FAIRWAYS & APPROACHES
This is the BEST PUBLIC GOLF COURSE IN NORTHEAST OHIO, Greens hold, smooth, and fairways are Country Club condition. Cut down fairways, excellent approaches, well maintained rough. Only weakness is the sand traps. Best value for course conditions. PERIOD.
Great condition and calue
Course was in great shape and was fun to play. Pretty forgiving in some places on a missed drive but still challenging. We played the silver tees so was a little long v standard men's...peer pressure! Greens were fast but soft and ball rolled preetty true for a course with that much traffic.
Great course
Beautiful course, noticeably well maintained, lots of yardage markers, and great good off the grill. Adult beverages too pricey. Overall great place to golf
Slow back nine
The greens had been aerified two days earlier but had been well filled, dragged, swept, and rolled, so that there was no real problems putting. Got paired with a guy who has previously played the course which did help on many holes. Course conditions were very good. You can tell that they do not have a problem putting water on the course, compared to many other courses in the area that are playing more like a bowling alley, (bounce and roll till it hits something.) The biggest downside to playing here is the back nine where you have four parralel holes with a creek crossing all the fairways. Between figuring out if you can carry or must layup to the creek, and players in the wrong fairways, the back nine will back up and slow down your round considerably.
Where is #9?
Terrible golf course! Sopping wet and the ranger pushed us to get done as they had an outing on a Sunday! We were from out of town and had booked months in advance!
The greens were terrible, fairways were shaggy, and #9 was a 150 yard drive out away from the clubhouse.
No range (I guess that they have a net to warm up with somewhere but I don't know where.
NO, NO, Do not waste your time! Rude staff and poor course layout and conditions!
One of the only courses in the area to feature 5 sets of tees
Played on a Friday around noon. We arrived at the course and the lady at the counter said we would be paired up. Not a problem. However they said they were behind about 7 minutes. Not a huge deal. Pace of play was on the slower side. I expect to finish a round no matter what in under 4 hours especially on a Friday. We finished just shy of 4 and a half hours. Could never really get into a flow of the round when you have to wait on every shot.
As for the course, I really enjoy playing here because they offer 5 sets of tee boxes and the black tees offer the perfect yardage for my game (around 6100 yds). These tees make it tough though because on the back 9 the tee shot requires about 200 and 230 yds respectively on a couple holes due to a small creek that runs across the fairway. I like the challenge because I have to choose my tee box club accordingly.
Its been extremely dry but you could tell they water immensely as the ground was soft even at 4pm. Very easy to hold greens and even using a non urethane ball I was able to hold greens and even back a few up which never happens for me
This course is great shape and the greens held nicely,
I was suprised how nice the course was considering how dry the summer has been. It has been well watered and maintained with both the tee boxes and greens in great shape. Play a round and enjoy yourself there.
sanctuary golf course
Course was in good shape and offered several challenging and beautiful holes. The staff was friendly and you wasn't pushed thru the course by rangers like some places. Will definitely replay.
Great Condition. Good Pace for St AM.
The course was in great condition as always. I was paired up with 3 others. We all played ready golf throughout the round and played in right at 4 hours. Pretty good for teeing off around 11AM on Sat morning with a full course.
Storm damage
Booked my round thru Golfnow on Monday for Saturday morning. Wednesday/Thursday some strong storms moved through the area and the course was badly flooded on several holes. As a result, we were told to play a makeshift 9 holes (1-6, 11, 18, and 9). This was completely understandable due to the storm damage, but I was disappointed to not have this communicated prior to arriving at the course since it had happened several days earlier. We were told we could play this makeshift 9 twice to complete our 18-hole round, but of course when we made the turn other groups were lined up to tee off. The staff did make it right by giving us rain checks for the second 9. The holes that we did play were in beautiful shape, and I am excited to go back once the holes that were flooded are ready for play.
Excellent "HOT" Deal
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The course of play was a head of schedule. This course is probably one of the best maintained In the stark county area. You could not beat the hot deal for $20 play here (originally $38). The food on the turn was well priced and DELICIOUS! Highly recommend!
A well maintained public course
The Sanctuary is a very nice public course, tightly mown fairways, and large greens. The greens roll fast and true, not bumpy at all.
Course is a little confusing, as #8 ends at the clubhouse, and you go behind the clubhouse to play 9, and make the turn. Back nine is far longer than the front, nearly 600 yards longer from the middle tees. Score well on the front, as the back is tougher.
Some tees are torn up a little, due to heavy play. Other than that, no complaints about the course. A little pricier than most public courses, but, snag a golfnow hot deal, and enjoy!
Nice layout
Nice layout fairways above avg green below avg poe is on every green ball bounces like your playing in cali
nice setup
The course was in good shape for this time of year. I don't play here often because it's overpriced, but with the deal from golf now, it was well priced..
Too expensive for what it is.
Every year we try to play nicer courses while they're still much cheaper. We've heard how nice The Sanctuary was so when I saw that it was $29, I jumped all over it. Got a hot dog before we began, she sold me on a "meal" and got a bag of chips a little drink and it was $6. Definitely on the higher end of "hot dog meals". After we paid, the ranger pointed out everything that needed pointed out, then notified that only the senior tees were open. Nothing on their website said anything about only one tee box being open, so I'm already a little upset at this point. For the most part, the course was in good shape for early April. The greens looked terrible but rolled very true. I'm sure it's much nicer during summer, but for the money, there's plenty of other courses I'd rather play. Probably won't be back.
