I hate forced carries
On a par 3 not so much...but 150-160 or so approach shots from the rough that are asking to bring the ball in high to hold narrow greens is a little demanding for amateurs. I lost two balls but kept it under 90. Other than the forced carries its a course where you are not hitting blind, so, I liked all but a couple of the holes near the end.
What used to be nice
This used to be a well kept course, haven't played here in 12+ years. Apparently new management not concerned about keeping maintenance up to par.
Greens are not kept up and divots splattered the entire surfaces. What a shame. Didn't see a marshall on the course the entire time. If your gonna charge these prices then one would expect a better groomed playing field, cart paths are in dire need of repair as well.
A good beginner course if you can keep it within the houses.
I guess you get what you pay for
Played the course on Memorial Day at 1:40. Wasn’t busy by no means, but the pace of play was still slow. Got to the pro shop they handed me the key to the cart and that was it. There was no starter which ultimately could have avoided the slow pace of play with multiple twosomes playing behind each other. The course greens are very slow and covered in goose poop, but the fairways are ok. If you’re hitting you will either be hitting against solid dirt or wet soil no great conditions really on any of the holes. I don’t mind paying 35-40 to play at this course, but feel it is not worth any more than that. It was a good time overall though just make sure if you hit them hit them straight because houses are very close on this course.
Locust Hill, Charles Town WV
We have golfed Locust Hill several times and
have had good experiences with this course every time!
Good group of people, friendly and accommodating.
We see us as regulars moving forward!

Course
Fairways are a little tight roughs are a little deep overall courses in good shape. Staff is very friendly..
Nice layout, but course management is lacking
The course layout was nice and provided a good challenge. However, the staff appeared to be understaffed. Not their fault, but they need to hire more people. One person running the front desk was not enough as she was having to jump around often leaving the front desk unmanned.
Additionally, grounds keeping was really bad. Fairways were roughs, and roughs were jungles. Greens were overgrown as well.
Largest square footage course
Interesting course to say the least. I couldn't believe how spread out it was and it had a feel of a south carolina private course feel . Greens and T Boxes definitely need some work. Overall had a great time and played very well spite the wind.
Senior League
The course doesn’t let other knows there’s a senior league that happens on weekday mornings. I was told by the clubhouse staff there’s a “ shotgun start” on weekday mornings. I had 2 groups of older gentleman in front of me who wouldn’t let me play through. This course needs a ranger in the worst way. It’s really the only place to play in the area unless you want to spend $100+. The staff here need to do better with slower playing patrons. A round of golf on a Friday morning shouldn’t take 4 hours for a single…
