Water last few holes!
Always enjoy playing here. Wish others would fix their ball marks! The water on holes 15, 16, 17 and 18 always give me issues! Easy going staff.
Need public water
everything is good. play 18 hole I can't fine public water. It starting summer, golfer need water.
Quick four holes ... storms washed us out.
Sadly, only played four holes due to a severe storm that rolled in. Liked what I saw and hope to go back at some point, as it's 90 minutes from home...but not racing back.
Was traveling through and found the course on the web and later Golf Pass. Got a "Hot Deal."
GP gave me credit for holes not played for a future round.
I don't think from what I played it's worth the full rate I was told on the phone, but it was a Sunday.
Clubhouse is very average.. Staff was friendly when I arrived, but not so much on the phone.
Course can be narrow in spots, and it plays through a community of nice homes.
Fairways were good. Tee boxes were not bad. Greens were slow but rolled nice. Breaks could be tricky.
Biggest complaint were the gnats... terrible. They haunted you unless you were in a cart. Goose mess was so bad on fourth fareway (pond) I cleaned and placed to a spot I could stand and hit without having the mess fly in my face.
Range was a good deal, Grass and turf...$5 for 40 balls. A nice stretch.
Overall...7.5 of 10.
Nice course. A bit if a country club wanna-be. Reminded me of a few Florida courses I've played.
nice course for the price
course was in good shape, but the tee areas could be better, pace of play was fine greens in good shape. price was right for 18-hole course, if you eat at clubhouse order the honey old bay wings as they were awesome and I will stop on my way back to Florida just to have them!
Nice place!
Very pretty and nicely maintained public venue. Pace of play was a little slow and no marshal but generally a good experience.
Locust Hill GC - WV.
Staff not friendly very friendly checking in and paying. The starter was a young guy, maybe high school age and he was the only friendly staff member who we encountered. We inquired about beverage cart due to weather conditions being very warm, and informed they would be out on the course all day. Saw the beverage cart on hole 2 and then while putting on 18. So service and staff were poor. Course layout was very nice and condition of the course was good. Couldn’t figure out which hole was the signature hole and there were 3-4 that were really beautifully payed out and picturesque. Overall it was a good day.
Course is getting better
The course is improving. They are refurbing several tee boxes and the geese have not been too much of a problem yet. Greens are still pretty firm making some shot hard to hold.
Locust Hill
Good course and great weather made for a great day.
First time
Took the trip with my brother in law and made reservations online for us. We played the back 9 and before hand hit two buckets of balls on the range. First off #11 & 18 good luck finding your ball because the range is between these two and the average player level seen from us at this range can’t hit the red side of a barn. We started right on time and within the first two holes let a solo play through. The duration of the night we were on his tale and we had a trio on ours. Nothing like a rushed game. Onto the course , yes, it is a challenge. Lots of water, sand and turns/hills. The only complaint I can say about the course itself is some of the greens needed to be patched up badly. One suggestion I can make for play style improvement would be to add a small map on the back of the scorecard maybe, I can’t express the anger I had on one hole when I missed the stone with the map and had no idea where to hit. The staff was awesome, cheerful and fun. The food and beer was amazing and the other players seemed to have great personalities. Overall it was a great experience but I believe with a couple minor improvements it could be 100x better.
