About
San Pedro Golf Course is an 18 - hole championship facility located on the banks of the San Pedro River. The golf course winds through the mesquite and along the banks of the San Pedro on the front nine. The back nine travels through four canyon like settings and finishes up with the 457-yard par four split fairway eighteenth hole. The golf course stretches out to 7187 yards from the tips and there are five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels.
The surrounding vistas at San Pedro are unmatched by any other golf club in Southeastern Arizona. From various points on the course, the San Pedro River Basin can be seen and this Mark Rathert design stretches along those river banks to the natural canyon like settings with the Dragoon mountain range in the background. The elevation changes and cool crisp air provide a setting that will bring you back for the challenge.
The bentgrass greens will provide slick playing surfaces with some undulations to test your stroke. The key to play on hole # 2 - is to stay clear from the left side, as the San Pedro comes into play early in your round. Your second shot to this 457-yard par four will test your long iron game! The fifth creates a great approach to the green on this par five. The par four sixth requires precision off the tee, as there are two bunkers along the right side with a narrow approach to the green. The seventh is a cute par three that is followed up with a par four and the 558 yard par five ninth that requires two well placed shots as the right hand side is guarded by a pond as you approach the green. The left side approach is definitely your safety valve.
The back nine opens up with a straight away 400 yard par four followed by a 197 par three with a very tricky undulated green that slopes from left to right. Walk away with a three here and be happy. Holes 12 - 16 will offer you both scenery & challenges coupled with a great test of golf. The twelfth is as good a par four that exists. The tee shot leads you into a narrow area that favors the left side, as this is a slight dogleg right. The second shot will let you know if you can thread the needle as the approach is a gem. Once on this bowl shaped green area you will look back and see the beauty that Mark Rathert carved here. The ride to the thirteenth tee brings you to the highest elevation on the course, where the San Pedro River Valley surrounds you - encased by three mountain ranges including Cochises' Stronghold - where that once heralded Indian and his tribe staked their claim. The 605 yard thirteenth will require position to the right center on both your drive and second shot, as you approach to this green. The fourteenth resembles hole # 12 but is a tad longer. The fifteenth hole is a scenic par three with a drop of 50 feet from teeing area to green. The sixteenth and seventeenth give you a slight breather as you approach the finest finishing hole in Southeastern Arizona - the par four split fairway 457 yard eighteenth hole. Water comes into play off the tee as well as on the second shot to this green that is also guarded by a bunker as you approach the apron.
San Pedro is tough but fair with exceptional playing surfaces and a range of tees (5) that will test golfers of all levels. You won't tire at San Pedro - enjoy the scenery and the natural desert like playing conditions that will soon be heralded throughout the area.

This is absolutely the worst shape this course has ever been. Greens are terrible. Not worth the trip there and t off doesn't mention a thing use them at your own risk.

I paid online special rate golf course was closed on Labor Day so hopefully I do not get charged for this rate hard to believe that you can book a teatime in the course is closed totally dissatisfied
Poor course
Never played at such a mismanaged and poorly maintained course. Fairways and roughs were about the same height. Greens were mottled with bare areas and not mowed to putt on. We played the 2 putt rule. City of Benson, Az. should be ashamed for letting a once fine course go down to this level.

I know you're short staffed, but that's the worst course I've ever played on. You can lose a ball on the fairway the grass and weeds are so tall. And the greens are horrible. I used to enjoy this course.

Improving
Work in progress. Greens improving and fairways fine. No sand in traps. T boxes poor. Get around pretty quickly and some of the holes are really good

Needs work
Although this course hasn't been in great shape for years, it hasn't improved. Bunkers are overgrown with weeds, the rough hasn't been cut in awhile, and some greens were in rough condition. Par e fairways haven't been cut.

Better every time
They're really trying to improve this course and it shows every time I play it it's a little bit better now a little bit more detail on the tee boxes and the bunker still need to be fixed but other than that it's a great first

greens
the putting greens on the course seems to be as if they have not been cut in three days, but you could see that they were cut that morning cause of the markings, but in all the times i have played this course , this was the most horrible the greens ever were to be played on, the time of year when they are aerating the greens isnt as bad as it was today, it just was fury, and the tee boxes seemed to have never been maintained in over a week or betters time

Vast Improvement
This is the first time playing this course and it has improved by Leaps and Bounds since the first time I played before the overgrowth was uncontrollable and even in the fairways you were shaking because of how fix the growth was now very playable the green still need work and the bunker still need sand but I give it a 3 out of 5 when before I would have given it a one at this rate it'll be a five and a couple of months I can't wait

Great course but needs work
This is a great 18 hole in the desert. My only complaints are, some of the greens had bald spots and the sand traps are more like mud traps. Overall I had a good time. I would play here again.

Course isnt maintained and tee boxes were in horrible condition, greens were above average and the overall course not bad shape, just needs some TLC

A good place to work on your game
This course has fallen victim to COVID. They lost a great deal of their workers. Let's start with the positives; It was 20 dollars. The greens are great. Ok-the rest of the story- the tee-boxes are playable. The traps not only don't have sand, they have things growing from them. The fairways are good enough,( imagine if the fairway was cut like the first cut of a really really great course) The pace of play was good and the layout is a little bit of a challenge. At the far end of the driving range is a special place to work on your wedges. You can park right behind the driving range. Benson AZ has a few good places to eat, and the course has a place to eat as well. Go to San Pedro to relax and improve your game

The course has considerable potential but needs work and there are signs that an effort is being made. Greens are improving. Cart path improvements done. Fairways fair. Still no sand in sand traps . Not too many people on the course which I like because I can play fast. Haven't used the restaurant and bar due to covid.

Too slow
The course isn't bad it has a lot of positives some really cool but people must think they can take their sweet time can't stand slow play first time playing the course was great had nobody in front of me until the last three holes took 2 hours second time I waited forever on the 2nd tee by the time the foursome was off the green and it's been over 25 minutes I just left I didn't have five hours to spend jerking off also course needs to be manicure severely other than those two things a decent course for a decent price

WEDNESDAYS ARE GOOD DAYS TO PLAY. LESS TRAFFIC.
I KNOW THEY ARE HURTING BECAUSE THEY CANNOT GET THE HELP FROM THE PRISON CREW. HOPE THAT RESOLVES ITSELF SOON.

Fun course, challenging layout
Most fairways are good, tee boxes and a few greens are in need of better maintenance. Work. Carts are old & jerky, but still working. I like the course, just hoping for improvements in course care & maintenance.

Still not enough maintenance being dome
Last year we golfed twice a week from December thru March, this year we golfed Five times total from November 15th toApril 15th. I will. Be hoping for more improvement next year To those in charge of maintenance I would recommend looking into Zoysia grass it requires less water It would be worth trying.you can buy seed or plugs that fill in quickly.
