About
San Pedro Golf Course is an 18 - hole championship facility located on the banks of the San Pedro River. The golf course winds through the mesquite and along the banks of the San Pedro on the front nine. The back nine travels through four canyon like settings and finishes up with the 457-yard par four split fairway eighteenth hole. The golf course stretches out to 7187 yards from the tips and there are five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels.
The surrounding vistas at San Pedro are unmatched by any other golf club in Southeastern Arizona. From various points on the course, the San Pedro River Basin can be seen and this Mark Rathert design stretches along those river banks to the natural canyon like settings with the Dragoon mountain range in the background. The elevation changes and cool crisp air provide a setting that will bring you back for the challenge.
The bentgrass greens will provide slick playing surfaces with some undulations to test your stroke. The key to play on hole # 2 - is to stay clear from the left side, as the San Pedro comes into play early in your round. Your second shot to this 457-yard par four will test your long iron game! The fifth creates a great approach to the green on this par five. The par four sixth requires precision off the tee, as there are two bunkers along the right side with a narrow approach to the green. The seventh is a cute par three that is followed up with a par four and the 558 yard par five ninth that requires two well placed shots as the right hand side is guarded by a pond as you approach the green. The left side approach is definitely your safety valve.
The back nine opens up with a straight away 400 yard par four followed by a 197 par three with a very tricky undulated green that slopes from left to right. Walk away with a three here and be happy. Holes 12 - 16 will offer you both scenery & challenges coupled with a great test of golf. The twelfth is as good a par four that exists. The tee shot leads you into a narrow area that favors the left side, as this is a slight dogleg right. The second shot will let you know if you can thread the needle as the approach is a gem. Once on this bowl shaped green area you will look back and see the beauty that Mark Rathert carved here. The ride to the thirteenth tee brings you to the highest elevation on the course, where the San Pedro River Valley surrounds you - encased by three mountain ranges including Cochises' Stronghold - where that once heralded Indian and his tribe staked their claim. The 605 yard thirteenth will require position to the right center on both your drive and second shot, as you approach to this green. The fourteenth resembles hole # 12 but is a tad longer. The fifteenth hole is a scenic par three with a drop of 50 feet from teeing area to green. The sixteenth and seventeenth give you a slight breather as you approach the finest finishing hole in Southeastern Arizona - the par four split fairway 457 yard eighteenth hole. Water comes into play off the tee as well as on the second shot to this green that is also guarded by a bunker as you approach the apron.
San Pedro is tough but fair with exceptional playing surfaces and a range of tees (5) that will test golfers of all levels. You won't tire at San Pedro - enjoy the scenery and the natural desert like playing conditions that will soon be heralded throughout the area.

Bad shape, but I like the course.
Nice layout. Fun to play when course is maintained. Problem right now is that it's in horrendous shape. Let's hope it gets better. Questionable how soon I come back.
TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE
Do NOT waste your money on this course. The Fairwys are TERRIBLE, the greens are WORSE. THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT THIS COURSE EXCEPT THE RESTAURANT. We have played this course many times in the past and have never played a course in this bad of shape & condition. They should be ashamed to charge for this & be more ashamed go call this a golf course!

Never again
You have your options of dirt mud or crab grass. I understand why it was 30$ after tax to play during the season.This by far is the worst course I’ve ever played greens were terrible with 90% of them having actual dirt and tire marks. The only thing that made this course playable was the hour drive to the course.

Terrible course conditions.
PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY.
We played this course a number of times about 1 year ago and it was fine, not great but not bad. Now, the course should be closed. It is absolutely terrible. We will not be going back until major changes have been made, if they ever do make changes, I can not say enough about how terrible the greens are, the fairways are dirt, it is just absolutely terrible. The restaurant still had good food & drink with a friendly staff.
It's a shame.
Most of the greens were awful! The sand traps are filled with patchy grass and gopher holes and rocks! The tee boxes that had grass looked like they haven't been mowed in a week, and it was hard to find a flat spot to tee off. Fairways were very patchy with a lot of dead grass. I won't be going back, even if its free! I feel like we got robbed!

Poor
Not maintained. Sand bunkers have grass and dirt in them. Tee boxes no grass. Cart paths hazardous

Worse course I have ever played in my life. It’s a dump! Save your money don’t go!

They have lost the greens
This course has a ton of potential but unfortunately they have lost most of the greens. and tee boxes. Gopher mounds and holes in tee boxes, large swaths of grass dead or missing on the greens. Probably the worst greens condition I have ever played . Only played 35 dollars to play this which would be the top end I would pay due to the condition. The lay out is full of potential.

Neglected
Worst condition I have ever seen a course in. No sand in traps, just weeds and grass growing in hard pack. Greens were brown and super bumpy. Fairways had very little grass on them.

Not thrilled
Poor greens, dried out fairways, ZERO sand in bunkers. Have you given up? It's a fun track....too bad.

Pleasantly surprised
A good mix of open and narrow fairways with a variety of elevation changes. Greens were rough and need a lot more TLC. Good place to practice without paying through the nose for it. Will return again.

Great design makes up for so much
Really enjoyed the round. Pleasantly surprised at the fantastic design. The holes are a nice variety, with some along the River, and then elevation changes on the back 9. There are 5 tees plus a junior tee. I played the Jade, which were very well spaced from the other tees, and a nice distance for me on each hole - unusually fair and consistent for women’s tees. I could easily see that this could be a favorite in the extended Tucson area in a better year. Still, even with the current conditions, I would play it again in a heartbeat, although it’s a bit far for us. And the price can’t be beat.
A warning, the course is not very good shape, most likely due to no rain this year, minimal watering, and the slow economy. If you are more picky about perfect conditions than fun design, it’s likely not for you. For us, it was a joy to play - relaxed instead of over-glitzy difficult. And there are some carry holes for a challenge. The fairways are dry, but most lies were fine. Unfortunately, the sand traps are overrun, with little to no sand, so basically waste areas, and unpredictable. Most greens rolled nicely, a bit slower than usual, but some have grass issues. They are nicely shaped with a few interesting multilevel tiers.

Tough conditions
Because of the drought conditions are terrible. They are losing large parts of the greens, fairway grass is thin at best and forget the “rough”. The course layout is fun. Staff seems very friendly but none were wearing masks. I’ll be skipping this course this season.

Horrible conditions
We played this course last year and liked it. This year the conditions were horrible. Don’t waste your time or money. Golf carts are on their last leg. Sand traps have no sand, just weeds. Greens were dirt. Cart path has so many pot holes it’s impossible to dodge them all.
