San Pedro Golf Course
About
San Pedro Golf Course is an 18 - hole championship facility located on the banks of the San Pedro River. The golf course winds through the mesquite and along the banks of the San Pedro on the front nine. The back nine travels through four canyon like settings and finishes up with the 457-yard par four split fairway eighteenth hole. The golf course stretches out to 7187 yards from the tips and there are five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels.
The surrounding vistas at San Pedro are unmatched by any other golf club in Southeastern Arizona. From various points on the course, the San Pedro River Basin can be seen and this Mark Rathert design stretches along those river banks to the natural canyon like settings with the Dragoon mountain range in the background. The elevation changes and cool crisp air provide a setting that will bring you back for the challenge.
The bentgrass greens will provide slick playing surfaces with some undulations to test your stroke. The key to play on hole # 2 - is to stay clear from the left side, as the San Pedro comes into play early in your round. Your second shot to this 457-yard par four will test your long iron game! The fifth creates a great approach to the green on this par five. The par four sixth requires precision off the tee, as there are two bunkers along the right side with a narrow approach to the green. The seventh is a cute par three that is followed up with a par four and the 558 yard par five ninth that requires two well placed shots as the right hand side is guarded by a pond as you approach the green. The left side approach is definitely your safety valve.
The back nine opens up with a straight away 400 yard par four followed by a 197 par three with a very tricky undulated green that slopes from left to right. Walk away with a three here and be happy. Holes 12 - 16 will offer you both scenery & challenges coupled with a great test of golf. The twelfth is as good a par four that exists. The tee shot leads you into a narrow area that favors the left side, as this is a slight dogleg right. The second shot will let you know if you can thread the needle as the approach is a gem. Once on this bowl shaped green area you will look back and see the beauty that Mark Rathert carved here. The ride to the thirteenth tee brings you to the highest elevation on the course, where the San Pedro River Valley surrounds you - encased by three mountain ranges including Cochises' Stronghold - where that once heralded Indian and his tribe staked their claim. The 605 yard thirteenth will require position to the right center on both your drive and second shot, as you approach to this green. The fourteenth resembles hole # 12 but is a tad longer. The fifteenth hole is a scenic par three with a drop of 50 feet from teeing area to green. The sixteenth and seventeenth give you a slight breather as you approach the finest finishing hole in Southeastern Arizona - the par four split fairway 457 yard eighteenth hole. Water comes into play off the tee as well as on the second shot to this green that is also guarded by a bunker as you approach the apron.
San Pedro is tough but fair with exceptional playing surfaces and a range of tees (5) that will test golfers of all levels. You won't tire at San Pedro - enjoy the scenery and the natural desert like playing conditions that will soon be heralded throughout the area.

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE
Do NOT waste your money on this course. The Fairwys are TERRIBLE, the greens are WORSE. THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT THIS COURSE EXCEPT THE RESTAURANT. We have played this course many times in the past and have never played a course in this bad of shape & condition. They should be ashamed to charge for this & be more ashamed go call this a golf course!
Breath of fresh air
Relaxing day off the beaten path. This place has that rustic charm… reminds me of Tubac before the rough edges got all polished away. The course plays well,, fairways are well conditioned and the geeens are quick and true! Really really a good time. My only sour note came from the areas that were once sand traps..looks like they are growing grass in those areas but that grass is hit or miss.. so occasionally you find urself with very limited options trying to score from a bare lie im a sand trap sunken area below the green. Enough of that,, great day! Great people!! Njoy the cottonwoods and fresh crisp air breeze alongside the riverbed… AHSUM!!!
San Pedro Golf Course
Greens and fairways were in good condition. Would
recommend this course. Elevation changes and
challenging. Good prices and friendly staff!
San Pedro Rocks
Really good layout and course for the price and relaxing atmosphere. Beer cart Gal comes around about every 30 minutes as she drives a fast Gator cart!
Impressed
Staff is always friendly. On time tee off. 5 sets of tees. Choosing wrong set would equal a brutal round. Tee boxes and fairways were excellent. Greens really good. Had a great time. Came from Tucson which is a 45 mile trip. Will definately play agai and soon. Price is fair for quality of course
The greens roll nice
The course plays long do to no roll-out . Fairways are a little long right now, they look good. The front of the greens are to soft.
It's frustrating that the conditions fall short of the standard of professional golf. Sad that a desert course plays muddy.
Are you a professional? How much did you pay? Do you have a globe? You're in Benson Arizona! It's a great course and getting better all the time.
SLOWEST PLAY ON PLANET
After following a group for 9 holes 6-14
They disappeared
It was Halloween
I hope the aliens got them
It’s a golf ball
They sell them by the dozen
The entire group would look for a ball
KEEP IT MOVING PLEASE
if you can’t do it let the group behind play through
Thank you
It's Back
Course is in great shape. Fairway grass is still a little long from overseed. Practice green is just like the course greens, very nice and quick. Had the course to ourselves. Beverage cart came by at least 4 times. The snowbirds are going to love it! Keep up the good work!
Been playing this course for 10 years it’s the best I’ve ever seen it👍👍
Good staff
Vinny at the front desk and the cart girl and bartender were all awesome. Great staff here
Low on grass
Very nice greens. Fairways and tee boxes are really low on grass. Seems pricey for the course condition. Plus no evidence of any sand in bunkers.
San Pedro
Very impressed with improvements since last time played. Greens were very nice. T boxes and fairways are in the works but based on rest of course I suspect will be really nice after next overseed! Definitely worth the short drive from Tucson!
Improved
Admire the work they have put in. The greens are really good although not cut particularly short. The ?weeds have been replaced with grass. Fairways improved and green. T boxes still need work but are better- a few are in bad shape. Bunkers are patchy grass so they need a plan for those. Got around quickly because it was hot and I played in the middle of the day. I’d give it 3.5 stars if I could.
Decent public course
Weather has been dry, dry, dry. Course needs water. But, that being said, greens rolled true and balls that landed on the green stayed on the green. Nice set up for a good price.
Golfing here again
Loved this desert golf course. A lot of holes were wide open so we didn’t lose to many balls…😁. Looking forward to playing this course again…!!!
Hi, Tomfiese. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. We are working to get everything up to par. We have projects ongoing to recover the fairways and greens. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game, and we will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing San Pedro Golf Course. We hope to see you again soon.
