Good time on a very wet day
I had a great playing this course today. Joe make me feel like a was local. The course was wet due to heavy rains the night before (all courses in the area were wet) and for the most part it did change the hitting conditions. The Pro Shop was nice with a good selections of clothes and equipment.
The greens were great shape, with very good fairways (I didn't lose many balls, other then poor play on my part). The carts were clean and in good shape (USB charger in cart).
Staff and other players were very friendly. I understand this place has new ownership and they are planning to add a short game area and a hitting net to warm up in the next year. Currently no sand traps (no complaints from me). FYI if your using a GPS golf watch, the course currently comes up under Crab Apple Ridge Golf Course and not The Ridge Golf Course (as of 08/14/2021), I'm assuming this will change next year as they update the design.
I love the online tee time option, as I booked after business hours once I got in town. I wish they had coffee available this morning (Saturday).
I will be back again the next time I'm in the area. Thanks!
Good Value
I see some negative reviews about ownership on this page, but I’ve golfed here at least 10 times and the staff and owners have been very friendly every time. If you’re looking for a PGA caliber course, this isn’t it but for the cost of a round and a cart I find it a reasonably maintained facility. My only suggestion would be some newer carts. Overall I give it a 4 out of 5 because of the value and convenience to my location.
Poor management
Terrible and confrontational owner. Does not have proper equipment and treats long term customers like crap. Avoid if looking for professional and well maintained course. Save your money not worth the crap it has to offer.
Terrible management and condution
The owner/ manager is a angry and un professional person. His understanding of course management and greens keeping us sad at best. I would avoid this course at all costs. I have played here weekly for 25 years and owner still treats long time customers like crap. I would avoid at all costs. Terrible greens keeping and pathetic time management. Pricing outrageous compared to better courses in the area.
Afternoon quicky
After checking in found the course to be wide open for 2:30 in afternoon. The fairways were mowed down and hard, But generally green. The greens were green and shaggy, we assumed to be intentional to avoid burn out from recent drought. The front nine is somewhat open and forgiving, while the back nine is somewhat shorter, with narrower holes and undulating greens. Course could be an ego boost if hitting it well. Several holes require a 120 - 140 yard tee shot to make fairway - difficult for some women, young players and new golfers.
Still young
This golf course is still young and I can't wait to see it 20 years down the road. There are plenty of young pine trees that will line the fairways one day, but for now the front 9 is wide open. The back nine is rather short and tight which allows someone who is striking the ball well to shoot in the low 30's.
