Very much enjoyed my round. Heavy rain overnight and in the morning left the back 9 unplayable so I played the front nine twice. Would definitely play here again.
Enjoyed the design of course
Enjoyed the design of the course. A mix of open spaced holes and narrow fairways
Sardines and Mowers
Beautiful course, very cool scenery, convenient location, but holy moly did they overpack the course. We played in the morning on a Wednesday, and had three groups ahead of and two groups behind nearly the entire front nine. We had two groups start within the same time we did. No staggering. That was the biggest complaint. Also, tractors and mowers were crossing holes and greens all throughout the morning? Very frustrating as it held groups up, too.
First time a Mound Grove
Overall a decent course layout. Several of the holes had fairways that were parallel and oftentimes individuals for other holes were on our fairway. Despite this, the course had a good layout with few hazards. Pace was above average as we played 9 holes in one hour and 50 minutes with groups on either side of us. Will be back to this course.
I always enjoy playing this course. Nice country setting and just an enjoyable place to be even after the golf.
First round here
Had not played here before but GN had a hot deal so we decided to try it. Read several other reviews that praised their greens so I had high hopes. I was not let down. even with the hot Summer weather the greens were soft and held very well. I have seen private course greens not near as nice. The layout is interesting but on the short side. Playing from the Blues allowed a few long iron shots. Not much sand, but several holes with well-placed water. Will definitely be coming back (as long as it's a HotDeal).
Course in nearly perfect condition!
Playing today, (7/21/20), the greens, most fairways and tee boxes are in excellent shape. Some rough areas are a bit dried out but still extremely playable and won’t leave you frustrated because it’s hard to even play off of the surface.
Green speed is great - fast enough to be challenging but not so fast you can’t play lines strategically. Again - I can’t say enough how excellent the greens are. They are nearly perfect with very few ball marks. The staff was out maintaining in full force and there seems to be an abundance of laborers, which is what it takes!
Over the last 3 years I must say the course has improved more so than any other course in the region with the exception of Kahkwa (but the budget difference should make that self explanatory). The value for the course is great.
My only honest suggestion is to rework the 18th hole. Playing from the tips today makes the hole seem like an after though. Perhaps take down trees in a direct line to the hole but leave other trees grown so you are forced to carry a drive 200 yards through trees? Other than that - anyone on the fence should get out and play Mound Grove before the summer slips away!
Great family outing
While visiting the area we selected this course for our family with teenager. Lovely course, well maintained with great views. Challenging enough but not frustrating. Would definitely play here again. We only played 9 but would like to check out the back 9 which looked to have more water
Nice course, can’t wait for everything to fully open up after COVID crap... is bar and grill area.
