Ehh
For the simple fact that this is the only public course in Athens county I’d recommend it to a friend. The cost for 9 with a cart shouldn’t be a penny over $15 even on the weekend. I understand that fuel costs are high these days but I feel that it’s just too overpriced for a short 9 hole course. Hocking Hills isn’t far there’s also Oxbow and Franklin Valley that are better and I do believe CHEAPER.
Not much bang for your buck
Overall, the course was not in great shape. The greens were choppy and were poorly maintained. The course sits in the middle of Ohio University’s campus, so there is a real possibility of hitting your ball into a parking lot or into a group of people walking along the trail surrounding the campus. I was playing behind a group of people that turned a 9 hole round that should have taken me 1.5-2 hrs to complete into a 2.5 hour round. There was clearly no pace of play enforced and the other group had no feel for letting a single golfer play through. That shows the type of players/groups that play here. The sand bunkers were also poorly maintained, thank goodness I didn’t have to play out of there during my round.
Nice Course
Had a very enjoyable round of golf. Great shape for being so late in season. Very friendly staff..
Good course, should be free for students
Took my dad out here for dad's weekend. We had a great time, but I still don't understand why it isn't free for students!! ROLLLLLLL BOBBIESSSSS
Needs work
For the price you pay it’s not worth it. Badly needed mowed. 3 holes appeared to have a major drainage problem and there was mud everywhere. It should be half the price that it is.
Along the beautiful Hocking River and South Green.
As an Ohio University today was the first time I player the course in thirty years. Many improvements have been made, still some wet areas. Greens are Marginal. Good. Value for the money and the scenery.
Basic Course
Nine hole course that is a medium length basic layout. Beautiful view of the river next to many holes, but doesn't come into play. Some bunkers, but not well maintained as some are rough to play out of. Fairways are a normal cut, but if you are in the first cut be ready for clover that ties up a club head easily. And if you try to play a second nine, there is no starter watching the first tee and you fall in the back of the line.
Nice features but.
The person working behind counter admitted she new nothing about golf. I have membership and did not inform her. I was charged 48$ for 2 people and golf cart and 9 holes. Plus 5$ tee hold fee. Because I have no experience playing golf. My friend did but I was paying his way and did not want to embarrass him. I think I should not have had to pay 53$ for 2 people for 9 holes with cart. I was partially at fault because of my lack of knowledge and my laid back attitude. The course was great my friend said and he would know. Next time I’m in there I will attempt to solve the financial part. Thank you for asking.
Less than average
Course could be nice but seems to have been neglected likely due to past covid distancing rules. Hopefully that will improve but student staff seemed to be disinterested, both at the counter and on the course. Greens in poor shape and traps unplayable. Ride, don’t walk. Long distances from greens to tees because of crossing Hocking River twice. With some work this could be a nice 9-holer and an asset for the university. I’ll give it another shot to see if there’s improvement.
Played worse
For the price it's not worth it. I play it often just because its 5 mins from me and I can get a quick round in after work. Lose balls right out of the fairways ,greens are meh, cart paths are trash. $25 for 9 and a cart is steep for this place.
