Don’t Bother
They stopped caring for the course over the last several years but now it’s at the point where they should just close it and stop charging people to play in a cow pasture. No grass on any tee boxes, if you’re not on the tour and miss a fairway by a yard or 2 your ball is gone due to their “native area”(sorry excuse btw)
Very surprised
Very surprised of the conditions for a university no grass on the tee boxes the rain the night before did not help. Mudballs all day.
What are they doing?
I have been a golfer at OU for 30 years now. I understand the standard has to change since it’s a college course and can get abused. I appreciate the vision and needed change, but the course changes are not fair to any average golfer. I’m no where a scratch player, so if you can’t stay in a fairway or hit it a little over a green, you will lose every ball in your bag. The bunker should be planted as grass bunkers. The high growing grass is in every landing area around the fairway and around bunkers and greens. This course used to be reasonable, but for the price and condition, I’ll drive away to somewhere else from now on.
Nice 9 hole course
Friendly staff, not much of a clubhouse. Course is not in great shape.
Sub Par
The greens are getting better, but the Tee boxes need some more work. At least there's not broken tees everywhere. The geese are friendly ish, but having to play 7-9 and dodge goose crap is a bit annoying. Ultimately, the staff are doing what needs to be done to keep it up. This is a new staff from the last time I was here a year+ ago, and tgayre doing a much better job.
And the overpriced putter is still in the clubhouse. I offer them $50 everytime I go in there. It's been there for 5 years.
This course is in the worst condition it has been in for awhile
I play this course every few months or so because it is so cheap and close enough to home. I’ll be honest it flat out stinks. During the school year is is busy with college students who have never played golf in there life. Leaving divots all of the course and on the greens, playing really slow, and littering everywhere. The course itself is in awful condition, fairways haven’t been watered in months. Tee boxes are basically sand traps. It’s hard to complain about the course because it is so cheap, but they really could do so much better. It used to be in better condition, but the management clearly doesn’t care about anything besides money.
Good course/Course Marshall Harassment
I have been to this course countless times and it is not very complex but still challenges you. The one thing that happens at this course that doesn't at any other course I have ever played at is the course Marshall completely harasses golfers. This is not just a problem I have encountered but one I have heard from many people around Athens. I encourage you to look around when you’re golfing there and you will find this guy recklessly driving his golf cart like a race car and driving to every golfer on the course and harassing them.
This is a good course for college campus
This course is a college campus course. It’s 9 holes but it is just what you need. It’s not to advanced but it stil challenges you. The course could use a little more mowing and upkeep but they still do a good job. Overall, a fun course to play on.
University Course
Nice 9 hole course. Plain and basic. Challenging and fun. Not a lot of amenities. Greens in decent condition, fairways brown. Needs water.
A precious throwback
I hadn't played this course since college 60 years ago! Some parts of the course have been changed due to campus expansion and river re-routing; but the "flavor" of the course has not changed. Basic but with added sand traps and creeks.
