Twin Base Golf Club

About
Twin Base Golf Course is a military course that is a part of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The 18-hole course is open to military and civilian employees and their guests. The course is flat, making it enjoyable to walk, especially since golfers can often catch a glimpse of the abundant wildlife that inhabits the golf course. The player-friendly layout is straightforward with no hidden hazards. The fairways are mostly straight with only a few slight doglegs here and there, but they are treacherously lined with mature trees. There is a moderate amount of bunkering throughout that is manageable since the bunkers generally protect only the front of the greens. Natural areas come into play and there is also a meandering creek that appears on a few holes.

Stay Away
Tried golfing on base for the first time today. Took my son, thinking we would get a membership so I could play with my kids while they are in college.
Showed up to the first tee 15 minutes early.
A guy with a group teeing off 30 minutes after us told us that he and his group were very good golfers, and we would have to hurry and stay out of their way.
By the 4th hole, a different member behind us nearly hit me with his golf cart. He asked if anyone in my group was wearing baseball spikes, because we were "tearing up his golf course" and we "don't belong there". He put his hands on me. My son and the 2 golfers paired with us witnessed all of this. My son and I, who were both just over par at the time, left.
We spoke with the girl in the office, and she seemed mortified. She said this happens all the time, but the management does nothing about it because the bullies are long term members.
Those long term members got what they wanted today. I won't be back, let alone become a member. Very disappointing.
Solid Foundation, BUT Lacking TLC
I have played this course numerous times over the years and always enjoyed the layout. The course is fair, but penalizing if a shot is not well struck. I was very disheartened to see the course in such horrible conditions. Many of the tee boxes were completely missing grass (a few of the back tee boxes had no grass at all). The fairways and rough were in good condition with very few burnt spots. The putting surfaces were rock hard and had fungus growing in spots. The fringe around the greens were very rough and in some spots just dirt. The gentleman behind the counter was uninviting and seemed to be disturbed that we interrupted him from a nap.
While I have fond memories of this course, I do not plan to return unless it is for the twilight rate.
Course is in rough shape, but playable
I've played here a few times and this is the worst condition I've seen this course in. Many fairways are burned dry. Most of the greens are OK, but some had damage. The course desperately needs water, but it may be too late for that. Some areas are probably lost.
