Amazing Experience
Everything about the place was incredible. When we got there, the staff greeted us with a smile and put our bags on the cart. The carts were really nice with an automatic brake and went really fast. Our forecaddie watched us intently on the range and tried his best to see our misses just during the 20 minutes on the range. The range had well placed targets and was very pure with very fresh looking Titleist ProV1s. The putting green was so pure and rolled so well I thought there was no way the course could be as good, but the course rolled just as well if not better.
Now on to the course. For an advanced golfer, the first 4 holes are all easy, with two par 5s creating great birdie opportunities.Hole 5 really gives you a slap in the face. A 465 yard par 4 with water right and OB left off the tee, water short and right of the green. And to top it all off, a green with many huge and challenging slopes. The greens out here are so impressive how much they slope yet how little times you think it is stupid. If you get a good read, the ball will roll on that line. The slopes are placed well to where no putt is impossible to get close, even with the speedy greens. 6, 7, and 8 are really fun holes. 6 is a short(ish) par 3 with two tiers on the green. 7 is a beautiful drivable par 4, and 8 is a fun little par 4 with lots of slope in the fairway. 9 is a long par 3 (played 240 into the wind today). 10 is another difficult par 4, Water left off the tee and by the green. OB right on the tee and curving to the left makes this a fantastic challenging hole. 11 and 12 are great birdie opportunities with a par 5 and a 360 par 4. 13 is a difficult driving hole with bunkers on each side of the fairway. The approach shot plays uphill a good bit and isn't easy either. The finishing stretch out here is absolutely amazing. 14 is a fun par 3 with an awesome green with 3 tiers. 15 is a beast. 500+ yard par 4 followed by 16 a 200+ yard par 3 followed by 17, a 550 par 5 with 9 bunkers, all being good sized, guarding the fairway and green. A very tough hole to hit in 2 with the shallow green. 18 is one of the best finishing holes I've ever played. A beautiful view of the clubhouse, and when I played, the sunset. The farther you hit it, the more water comes in to play down the right side. The approach shot plays slightly uphill and the green has a left and a right tier. In my opinion, the best golf experience in Texas. Right up there with Whispering Pines. The only ones that compare are Carlton Woods Nicklaus, Bluejack, Champions, Trinity Forest, and Austin CC.
